I'm going to say GF was just really nervous about the transition from handheld to console here and played it really conservative, but it is looking more and more like they're just missing "it" from previous generations.

I've bounced back and forth about this. On one hand, I get that the decision to cut Pokemon was due to time constraints (although Pokemon is not exactly a franchise that needs the holidays to sell well, so they could have delayed it..). Also, I personally always like playing through the campaigns only using new Pokemon, so cutting out the old ones is not the worst thing ever. This also opens the door for less used Pokemon to have a chance to shine.

On the other hand though, your studio makes one of the most profitable (most profitable?) game franchises. You can hire more than two-hundred people!

If they patch in more/the rest of the pokemon at a later date for free, that'd be cool. In all likelihood, they'll be included in Pokemon Super Sword/Super Shield or whatever they end up calling it.

Idk why gen1 was even cut, the game is clearly using the same engine as the lets go games and all the models and assets should easily be ported over, fucking lazy scabs.

These new pokemon designs are absolutely terrible. I guess there's only so many ideas you can come up with after 20 years.

Despite this, I'm still looking forward to this game. It looks like the "true" pokemon game we've always wanted/deserved.
