NFL with it’s throbbing boner over the Giants opening in Dallas yet again.
Carolina got no Sunday or Monday night games
Either a typo, or probably one of the best jokes I've ever seen from Bleacher Report
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/...edium=referral3. Next big vet QB deal will be Rivers
Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers did not attend the start of the team's offseason program this week. It wasn't because of his contract or because his wife, Tiffany, had their 78th child; it was because of a family vacation.
Giants schedule looks pretty damn generous now that I’ve taken some time to look at it. If the post-bye team shows up from last year shit is looking pretty gravy. NFC East gets some of that Patriots love from playing that dog shit division.
kirk cousins made 23 million more than boogie cousins last year lol thats so great
i don’t feel like checking every schedule to verify, but a couple people on Twitter (Peter King for one) pointed out the eagles are the only team with three straight road games
dram tram
(this doesn’t count the raiders and bucs who have home games in London during road trips)
Bucs are completely fucked.
Carolina converted 9.05mil of Keeklee's base salary to a signing bonus creating 7.24mil in cap space
that's a thing? why aren't more teams doing this
They're just spreading the cap hit out over time. NFL teams do it constantly
What Krandor said. It basically just pushes the cap hit down the line, and god help you if you do it enough and you wind up releasing the player. That's where the dead money hits come from.
It happens with every team over and over again every year. "ah shit we have no cap space, fuck it just kick the can down the road and worry about it next year"
Prime example from this year is the Saints, who converted 16.2 mil of Brees contract to a signing bonus to save money this season, but are now looking at 37 mil for the following season (and he'll still count against the cap for 5 mil the year after his current contract ends). Mind you this is a contract he signed in 2018, so just one year later they're already having to rework the money and just delaying the cap hit.
Yep. Saints (and Cowboys) are/were notorious for it. Makes sense in small doses but usually turns into a vicious cycle with teams continuously kicking the can down the road
Edit: beaten by krandy. Jairus Byrd signing was another example. Saints were capped out and did it to sign him to a huge deal, which failed miserably

In this instance the Panthers literally do not even have the money to sign their own incoming draft picks. They give Kuechly his money now and will spread out that cap hit over 2020 and 2021.
I don't get the Panthers situation. They don't seem to have a lot of talent, yet were like $2m from the cap. Just awful GM?
