Gordon's position makes more sense than any other holdout in awhile. I think Johnson and Gurley came from the same draft class as him, and both got their big contracts last year. Rivers probably only has a couple of years left, and he wants to win, so he will likely push them to get him signed too.

you'll have 2 weeks of backup qbs playing each other, making a difference in your team getting into the playoffs

It would brutally ruin people in fantasy football, esp. if teams didn't have to announce when QBs/RBs/WRs were sitting until like 1 day before the game.

the player association would never go for it anyway. they want their veterans making more money, not possibly losing their starting jobs 'cause a backup rookie had amazing stats for 1 game because he was totally fresh in week 18

If there was a corresponding expansion of rosters, which there would seemingly have to be, that's a ton more open jobs for their players. Much more valuable than your extremely rare hypothetical

Most of the complaints are regarding QBs - seems pretty easy to exempt QBs from this rule. Most other guys are probably missing at least one game a year anyway

Tiebreakers still matter so you'd likely use your two bench games for two nonconference games

no matter how you slice it this would essentially just be 2 preseason games becoming regular season games. and while some people do watch preseason, a lot of people dont because the stars aren't on the field. and that includes all the non qbs

I just think the NFL 16 game schedule is such a perfect machine (play your division twice, play one other division in the NFC and AFC on 3/4 year rotating basis, play the two other opponents who finished in the same position in their division in your conference as you did last year)

It has some competitive balance and it's poetry.
