That’s the closest thing to talking to her directly about her beliefs as you or i will ever get. Now I’m not a huge fan of how her past and being a survivor of abuse has lead to her view on shared spaces but the remainder of what she’s talking about is logical and understanding. It doesn’t condemn nor does it foster hate or disapproval whatsoever. These aren’t the words of an enemy of humanity. For her to be labeled a piece of shit? Within two paragraphs she basically said transgender people are mentally ill people and are eroding feminism.

I have my qualms with all extremes. For example, I hesitate when I see "men can have periods" or "women ejaculate sperm too" because I really can't separate the biology of that (inherently male and female characteristics) from gender and feel strongly there are many who would call me anti-transgender despite my huge desire to support (encouraging proper use of pronouns, counseling, etc.) the community.

But she straight up doubles down several times. She is indeed a bag of shit. Just because she donates to charity doesn't mean she can't do or say bad shit.

She mentions a correlation between them when discussing individuals that regret going through transition. That doesn’t automatically imply that she thinks all trans men or women are mentally ill. At least I don’t interpret it that way at all. She’s stating her reasoning for being alarmed to certain trends based on empirical evidence. Now you can easily disagree with who she decides to quote and lend her ear to but I don’t see hate coming from her responses to what she’s being presented at all. Clearly she cares for people and she’s not out there trying to make the world a worse place.

Breaking her argument down to trans isn’t a thing stop setting feminism back is completely disingenuous and I think you know that. I think JK Rowling’s stance needs modification. I don’t think it’s wholly informed and I don’t completely agree with it. But she’s not a piece of shit and she’s clearly giving earnest amounts of effort to educate herself.

I’m not here saying I approve her message or agree with her thought process. It says it right there in where you quoted me. What I’m saying is, labeling her a piece of shit, is a poor take. Once again she’s been an incredibly positive figure for a majority of the past twenty years and her books helped provide legitimate change for the better.
