Literally one did, that one being richard spencer. And he didn't make it so he merely used it as a nazi sign after it had already been established by the media as being one solely because a group of people wanted it to become one to take a jab at the overreaction of the media and their quickness to label anything either alt-right or nazi. Within the same exact 24 hour period that the OK hand sign was created for the previously stated reason 2 other benign things were also introduced for the media to jump on as well. Those 2 things being the rainbow flag with it's separation of colors representing an antithesis of multicultural diversity and racial mixing and showing that the rainbow could only be beautiful as long as the colors stayed separate and unique, the other was another handsign which was the peace sign that they attempted to co-opt as meaning 2 genders.

Literally if sexual/gender identity was more of a hot button than white supremacy at the time than that sign would be the one that people would be all up in arms about right now instead of the others, but as this happened in the time of the Trump reign obviously the focus was more fixed on the OK sign. Richard Spencer being the retard he is and wanting to become the face of white saviorship attempted to bring on board a new generation of what he thought were fellow white supremacists by dog whistling to these zoomer racists with their hip new internet hand sign in the same way a church pastor would attempt to do a hip dope rap about jesus.

It's not that people had no choice but to recognize it, it's that they gave it it's meaning and the infinitely small minority of people that genuinely use it as a nazi sign are dwarfed by people who do it for the reaction and because of the absolute absurdity at the way in which media operates with what should in all honesty be viewed as a tongue in cheek jab at their overreaction to everything for the sake of headlines. But by all means carry on and let's see how many phrases,sign language,signs,clothes,hairstyles etc that we can have taken from public use for no reason whatsoever.
