E3 is open to the public now, idk if it's all days though. Even so, it's also an industry event and things are different.

Before goal posts are moved, you arent entering anime/gaming conventions under 18 without adult supervision, and that "supervision" is usually an older sibling, but I've seen disinterested parents at cons before too lol. But by and large these conventions are not "adults only" in any way, and any mature content is usually self censored because the community knows better than to pawn porn or porn adjacent items to 12 year olds.

When I was in college I was director of a group called the Satanic Mechanics, we were the Rocky Horror Picture Show cast on campus (though we also did other cult hits like The Princess Bride, Clue, Young Frankenstein, the Addam's Family, a couple others). I was one of the few actual straight, white, gender-conforming males in the group and let me tell you, it was really cool seeing a place where all these queer kids could go and not be the weird ones. Saw a large number of people come out of their shells for probably the first time.

Holy crap you are right. That must have changed in the last 4 years. I can't believe it has been that long since I went. Passes are almost $1k though damn. Industry passes are free.

An anime convention? No. Gaming conventions sure. Google seems to be a mixed bag. Maybe the word most isn't appropriate. E3 this year was 17+

E3 also used to be a trade show that you had to work in the industry to get in. Blizzcon, All versions of Pax, SDCC, Emerald City CC, among many other major conventions are all ages.

Magic city comic con and Florida supercon are all ages.

I wouldnt let my kid into the upstairs shows after 10pm though. He can sneak in on his own when I'm not around, but I'm not supervising my kids during a midnight rocky horror picture showing lmao.

The local con here is "R Rated" meaning 18+ or with an adult guardian. They also don't give a shit and never ID.

Never been to a major regional con that wasn't letting in all ages some way or another. Certain panels or rooms or whatever can absolutely be restricted though. Or after certain times of day.

Anime Expo @ LA in 2 weeks admits children 5 or under for free and 4 day badges are sold at $35 for children ages 6-13. But all children under 13 are required to have adult supervision with them at all times.

Most conventions permit teenagers to be unsupervised because it's the equivalent of leaving a teenager at the mall.

User doubled and tripled down before realizing they exaggerated and either mistakenly used the wrong word or purposefully did, and it was to push an agenda. I don't get though why you guys always whine about whataboutisms but constantly bring up previous discussions that don't have any relevance.
