the only point people have made is that a dichotomous either/or system for sex is incomplete and fails to account for a not-insignificant amount of individuals with chromosomal mutations that render them not quite either, and we call those people intersex. what on earth does it matter if they're infertile. they exist. they disprove the only two sexes paradigm.

I'm not arguing from an immutable point of view here, I admit my knowledge on this subject isn't all-reaching, if you have some reputable sources or studies or anything I might have missed that you could link that I could read up on, I'd happily do it because I do believe you've probably put more effort into it than I have.

However, I don't think this works like color mixing. Intersex isn't a sex, they are genetic abnormalities that, among other things, can cause sex traits to be present in those that normally would not present them. They are still, primarily, genetically male or Female as specific Intersex traits are still more likely to effect specific sexes. For instance, Turner Syndrome effecting only genetic females, or Klinefelter syndrome only effecting genetic males. There are a few that can effect either sex but none of them I've ever seen described as a completely new sex separate from Male or Female... simply as genetic abnormalities that effect Male or Females.

To lay my cards on the table here, I believe sex and gender are the same thing and personality traits aren't a gender. But, and this is a big but, It won't stop me from calling people what they want to be called, I'm not their doctor I don't care what they identify as I can give fellow humans basic respect. I'm not going to insult or hurt someones feelings because I disagree with them... only exception being assholes, I meet ass with ass. But this whole gender spectrum thing never really bothered me much... its not my life to live, its theirs.

Maybe, but my interpretation of what he's saying is that my feelings on the matter are meaningless. If Emma wants to be called Emma then the right thing to do is call her Emma regardless of what my personal feelings on gender are, and to do so without any sort of irony or malice.
