They did the same thing with project scorpio (xbox one x) the audience doesnt care about teraflops and shit. They're just letting people know it's coming and building hype. Why the fuck would Sony give the first details of PS5 of all places in Wired? Sure it was an interview that gave a bunch of details, but that's even less exciting that a stage show announcement. I don't really care one way or the other. I'll own all of them, but things are getting less conventional.

They specifically said stream from the servers they have, or from your console at home. Idk what that means, but they're 18 months from launch and they choose to highlight that feature specifically before they even had a name for the product they're selling. I take it to imagine they're leaning on that to be a big feature.

All these companies launching cloud streaming services when all the major US ISPs have data caps is gonna end poorly.

Depends on the area. The only time i had a data cap was via COX when I was stationed in South Carolina back in 2013 and I know at the same time the data cap didn't exist in Las Vegas.

AT&T woulda imposed one here in Austin but either you pay $30/mo to remove their 300GB/mo limit or get a bundle with cable and I opted for the latter.

Honestly more worried about latency problems being I'm in the dead center of america and most times shit is in the west coast or east coast.

Very much this. The Devil is very much in the details and exactly how they plan on streaming some of these 1080p games (or 4K lol) at 60 FPS for all involved is pretty nuts. Assuming near perfect latency the server has ~17ms to do all that it needs and send everything over the wire.

Technology has come a long way since OnLive's 150 ms. If I could spend $10 to test out Stadia i would but I'm not shelling out $130 for the founders edition.

Thinking about killing my humble bundle monthy and swapping over to Microsoft's PC service though.

The server can already do the machine processing thing faster than the home console can, it's just a matter of having the codecs and ecosystem to stream it fast enough at a reasonable quality. Netflix is already streaming at 4k using less, so i definitely see all of this as "possible".

Depending on the game, buying specific titles on stadia versus your PC might be better just for portability. I can see myself buying say the next xcom game on stadia just for portability while maintaining the entire game experience.
