A ton of big names eliminated off stream and they can’t even give you an update on how it happened. Not asking for every match to be streamed cuz obviously that’s damn near impossible, but at the very least provide updates on what’s happening. Who the fuck is Yangman and why is he up against Momochi in top 16?

Only way we'll get live updates for the offstream matches is to either hire more people to pass along info or switch to an online digital format for instant updates. Last I read, Evo doesn't want to risk going online incase there are some snafus and even though they still do paper brackets, they probably don't want to overwhelm the bracket runners either.

And yea, twitter is hella memeing about Infiltration's win.

How hard would it be to build a tournament site that organizers and users could log into on a phone/iPad to update winners and check brackets? Isn’t that what smash.gg is for?

I guess smash.gg does do that function but bracket runners don't normally fill it out until the end of the bracket so whoever is on stream will still be clueless. Logan mentioned on stream yesterday that most of the matches they put up on stream were only Winner's side which is dumb.

Sunday Finals have started. Arena looking mad empty cause FGC gonna FGC lol

Yeah it’s hard to follow anything even with smash.gg because it’s either outdated or the site itself is down altogether.

Logan and Fword were absolutely clueless about what was going on and basically forced the TO’s hands when they found out Daigo vs Valle was gonna be offstream.

It’d be dope if one day you can click on any player to follow and watch their matches and progress.

I don’t think a single Dominican player had a match streamed this weekend for SFV which was fucking lame.

Caba also had a match streamed against some random scrub so it was not a good watch.

I just caught up on the replay of day 2, this morning, and I find it absolutely insane that commentators STILL don't know if a match is for Top 8, is Winners vs. Losers, etc. Insane. How are the people that run and organize this still doing such a poor job?

You would think the people running the stream would get some info on a no name player that is washing people, on his way to Top 8. He sits down and both commentators literally said "I have no idea who this is...". Like, for real? It's supposed to be your job to figure it out and let the viewer know...lol

"I have no idea who this is..."

    "Is this winners or losers?"

"Is this for Top 8 or Top 12?"

"Based on his reaction I think he made Top 8 tomorrow!"

WHAT?! Come on ffs.....you fucking tell me dumbass!

How much info can you really get from a no name player during pools though? "No name player from X country playing Y character beat Z top player(s)" is about the best we can glean without sitting the dude down or one of his friends to ask questions. They would need to hire another person to watch high profile offstream matches to pass along the info to the stream team.

It’s not like that would be expensive. Anyone out there actually getting paid for that kind of task is getting like $12 an hour. I’m sure they could get volunteers to do it. And it would be worth every penny for this to come off as well organized just once a year.

Once the guy made Top 32 and the pool runner realized no one has ever heard of him, they should have got info about him for the commentators even if it’s “up next we got a newcomer from China who has beat X Y and Z!”.

At EVO, once we hit top 64 we should be presented with who the players coming up have beat to get that far and who the winner will play next or could play next.

every ad break should be sufficient time to submit bracket updates imo

maybe that won't work for offstream matches, but gives the commentators time to find things out

I fills me with great joy to see that dirtbag Tokido all the way down at 49th. And last year's EVO champ Gachikun at 97th.

This is what you get for spending your profession career essentially playing SF5: 3rd Strike, minus the parrying.

Bonchan has been on fire for a while. His Sagat went from "Business-Sagat" (meaning he only picked him up to appeal to sponsors/fans and not to win) to being regarded as a serious threat amongst various pros now. Really rooting for him to win this EVO.
