Google, Bungie, and id Software are being sued in a class-action lawsuit over Stadia's false resolution claims.
The suit alleges that Google, Bungie, and id Software misrepresented the capabilities of Stadia by saying that games like Destiny 2 and Doom Eternal could hit 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. Turns out, neither game was playable in true 4K. The basis for the suit is that anyone who purchased the Google Stadia Founder’s Edition, the Google Stadia Premier Edition, or a monthly Google Stadia Pro Subscription did so with the intent of playing games at true 4K resolution, rather than playing upscaled versions of said games.
The suit was initially filed with the Supreme Court of New York, but lawyers for id Software filed to move to the Eastern District of New York, a federal court.
I think all you can do is laugh about it tbh.
I never knew anyone personally who owned one. And how the thread went from "this will be the most game changing thing ever" to what's going on now. Them shutting that studio down and letting Jade Raymond go were the first of many in a probably couple year slow death.
So was anyone's with a working understanding of the internet.
The tech works tho, they just didn't support it with content. Xcloud proves it can be done, just no one wants to give it the full throated effort, as was called earlier in this thread. Even Luna isn't getting the effort it requires to make it a true contender in the scene.

As I've said a bunch nvidia does this and does it fantastically I don't know why they don't push it harder or make it more available/mainstream.
The tech exists, it works, it works wonderfully. Google had a chance to slingshot it into the future.
Remember when we argued for like 4 days about how good/bad this was gonna be and I said it wouldn't work yet because American infrastructure is dogshit and Google is one of the worst companies that could have tried to make it mainstream?
I'm just gonna lament the fact that Google's failures on fiber mean I'm never moving out of the greater Kansas City area.

Personally I think the principle of cloud gaming is fundamentally flawed, because no gamer wants to wait 100ms or more between the time he presses a button and the time the action happens on screen. Maybe it's not so much noticeable but it's still there, basically impossible to improve.
It's like the VR headsets that give headache / nausea / dry eyes... It's not something they can fix afaik, they can probably attenuate the effects by changing some of the design elements but not sure.
The announcement of the closure of the studio is a bad sign imo that something is not working properly.
Those who are interested can search on Google "Lag simulator 2018" and that gives a basic idea of how it can impact gameplay.
