if the games are good who cares. Blizz could use some W's, take as long as you need
While I agree I think it's more the issue they stated Overwatch won't get anymore updates before OW2 as all content would be rolled into that. People expected 8-12 months and it will now be closer to two years without meaningful content.
Diablo 4 yeah who cares take as long as they need.
ye that's fair, the plan is still to introduce all the new PvP content for Overwatch 1 owners as well though ya? significant drought but then massive free expansion, p good deal. sure the wait sucks tho.
OW2 is definitely the bigger surprise/disappointment because, as already mentioned, the lack of OW updates in the meantime, and Activision loves to shit out shooters so I figured they'd pressure Blizz a lot to get it out this year.
I dont know what to tell you if you thought that shit was coming soon. Its obvious those announcements were Blizzard flashing their tits at us to distract from bending the knee to Winnie the Pooh.

I expected Diablo to be quite a ways out, but given what I already mentioned about the Overwatch situation (and Activision's increasing effects on Blizz lately), plus the fact that they don't even have to create a new multiplayer, just tweak it? I figured Holiday 21 was at least in the realm of possibility.
If I'm remembering correctly, they also said they had started working on OW2 after OW's first year (I think they were using OW2 as an excuse for OW's lack of updates/support..). So yeah, not great.
The way they described it is tweaked OW multiplayer and new maps/characters (which will also come to OW), plus some sort of Campaign/PvE style missions, if memory serves. So again, the amount of content they have announced seems like something that could reasonably be out sooner than 2022
For PvP, I think they said there would be two new modes and an unspecified number of new maps and characters.
For PvE, there would be story missions and character progression, but from what they've shown, I'll be surprised if it's significantly more than the archive missions. I'm assuming there will be a storyline where you have a set group of characters for each mission, but also the ability to play the missions with any character you want. As far as the levels, we don't know much, and I'd have to rewatch the trailer to be sure, but I remember thinking the maps looked like reused PvP maps.
I know people want to know more about the Overwatch universe and to see the storyline actually progress, but I stand by that they should not have made a PvE campaign. Blizzard clearly is invested in the PvP and esports side of Overwatch (and should actually be doing more to support it) while fans who want more PvE story will burn through that content and demand more. And I say this as someone who hasn't really committed to Overwatch in like three years and is probably more invested in the story at this point -- and would have preferred if they had made an animated series or something instead.
Blizzard as a company has just put out back shit for two years. If you don't care about WoW then what are you even playing from them? Call of duty don't count, Diablo mobile don't count, lol
I thought these people were a video game company yet announcement after announcement is them just delaying games they announced last generation, announcing the dropping of support for games that got them to where they are, or just straight disappointing April fool's jokes like Diablo mobile

I'm not opposed to having a mobile Diablo game tbh, they just horribly botched it with the initial announcement at fucking Blizzcon coming when people where expecting something hype/D4. The core conceit "diablo but on the go" is at least an intriguing enough premise to get my interest, assuming the monetization isn't horrendously unreasonable. But them legitimately expecting it to be a big hype announcement greeted with fanfare was just stupid.
Because they don't need to put shit out when they make their money off of recurrent user spending and microtransactions. Acti-blizz (stop not using activision in there, because they're a SINGLE entity now; Blizzard is long dead) makes enough money through Fifa fucking card sales to fund their entire corporation with interest. WoW money is a lovely bonus, as is CoD, but there's no need to strike some new gold mine when they're so fat off the blood of soccer addicts that they could go without food for a decade and still be obese.
Isn't FIFA EA?
Yeah, FIFA is EA. Activision does t do any of the big 5 sports. It's all EA, Take2 and Sony (MLB)

Oh shit, you're right! My fucking bad. Yeah, I don't know WHAT Actiblizz is fucking doing then. CoD money is nice, but not THAT nice. WoW money is fat, but without a Fortnite/Fifa-esque money pit that requires barely any resources poured back into it...
GTA and red dead online just that good I guess

Everything I'm seeing about the Diablo mobile is saying it's actually really really good. I'm super excited for it.
The biggest complaints I heard about it was that it superheats your phone (due to looking and running well, which is common) and that playing it for long periods of time can be a bit taxing on the hand.
If those are your two biggest issues... that bodes very well for you.
