A natural gas pipeline exploded in La Porte, TX after a SUV crashed into it. 100 homes in a half mile radius are inaccessible after many have melted from the heat. Firefighters are letting the fire burn off as the pipeline owner, Energy Transfer, has closed off access. Firefighters are dumping water on homes in the radius to limit damage.

Reportedly the sprinkler system had a malfunction and sprayed some sort of chemical causing this reaction. This is the fourth time this plant has had a chemical fire.

A phosphate plant in Tampa Bay, FL is reporting that they had a leak into the Bay during Hurricane Milton. It's from the company Mosiac. They say that water quality issues will be "moderate". The leak is at least 17.5k gallons.

I saw some before and after pictures elsewhere. It's so unbelievable looking. The blast was so powerful that people felt it more than 12 miles away.

Natural gas pipeline in eastern Minnesota exploded on Friday. No foul play determined as the cause.

Multiple homes were asked to evacuate after an explosion involving a large natural gas line on Friday afternoon, west of Willow River.

The Pine County Sheriff's Office said it received calls about the explosion just before 1:45 p.m. Several agencies responded and determined that a gas line was involved.

"Temporary service has been restored to nearly all customers after damage to a Northern Natural Gas (NNG) interstate pipeline, which supplies Minnesota Energy Resources," according to a release from the company.

11 dead in Longview, WA after a chemical tank explosion at the Nippon Dynawave Packaging Co.

Two bodies were recovered Saturday after one body was recovered Friday. Six bodies recovered Thursday were found in what was described as a workers' area, where employees would gather before and after their shifts. Authorities had previously noted the implosion happened during a shift change.

Several more people were injured in the incident, but the exact number and their conditions were unclear Thursday. Some of the patients had been transported to the Legacy Oregon Burn Center in Portland, Oregon.

The tank that failed was holding white liquor — a chemical commonly used in paper and pulp processing, which consists of sodium hydroxide and sodium sulfide. Authorities previously said the tank had an approximate capacity of 900,000 gallons and was about two-thirds full at the time of the incident. Local authorities estimated Wednesday that roughly 25,000 gallons of material may remain inside the damaged tank, and it is leaking out slowly.

It's possible that the liquid from the tank could seep into the local water supply.

There has been a warehouse fire in East LA/Boyle Heights for the past week that has caused a state emergency for air quality. It's a mass food cold-storage warehouse.

Smoke is billowing from the warehouse, which is roughly 500,000-square-foot (46,451-square-meter), covered in solar panels and insulated like a freezer. It's located across the street from homes in Boyle Heights, a working-class neighborhood east of downtown, and city officials on Monday warned people to stay inside or wear masks due to smoke pollution.

Firefighters have not been able to enter the building due to the danger posed by floor-to-ceiling heavy-duty steel rack shelving, he said. They also have been unable to quickly ventilate the roof due to the insulation, which is what they would typically do to release gas and smoke and gain visibility inside a warehouse, he said.

The warehouse has rows that are 65-feet (20 meters) tall and 650-feet (200 meters) long loaded with pallets and boxes filled with frozen food, similar to the interior of a Costco or Home Depot warehouse store, Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Jaime Moore said during Monday's news conference. There were about 85 million pounds (38.6 million kilograms) of frozen food stored inside, he said.

"I don't know that we'll ever get firefighters inside because the entire roof has been compromised and it is sitting on top of (those) 65-foot towers," Moore said. "It's extremely dangerous, and I don't foresee ever putting our firefighters in that type of danger."

The South Coast Air Quality Management District extended a warning about poor air quality in the area until Tuesday afternoon, saying the blaze continues to produce smoke impacting the neighborhood and areas north and east of the fire. The smoke is carrying microscopic particles known as PM2.5 that can penetrate deep into the lungs.

Light winds will also push the smoke in all directions, potentially impacting other parts of metropolitan LA, the district said.

Lineage Logistics released a statement on Monday indicating the fire likely started on the roof while subcontractors were servicing the solar array.

Lineage clarified that it does not own the 500,000-square-foot building or the solar array on top. The company operates the warehouse as a tenant, while the roof is leased to a third-party solar company responsible for maintaining and operating the system.

The company said it contributed $2 million to the California Community Foundation (CCF), which will distribute it to support community members impacted by the fire.
