Sticking to what I said before of rolling with an Origin character to begin with. Can fall down the character creation hole for a future playthrough

Yo, homers. I’m not reading the thread but should I buy this?
AND WE'RE IN.
Also Zet: YES
Do you enjoy D&D, turn based RPGs, or the Divinity Original Sin games more specifically?
If the answer to any of these is yes then yeah you probably want to play this.
Never played those games but I have two in my steam library.
I play dnd and turn based can be ok. I’ll buy it in a few days
Not that it's a graphical masterpiece, but I am loving how well optimized this is. Maxed out settings w/DLAA @ 2560x1600 and get 100+fps while leaving my laptop in the mid range power setting for quiet fans.
Hell yeah
also not that it's especially surprising but it has 400K concurrent players as we speak for one of the biggest Steam launches of the year, #1 on Twitch, very few reviews out but the ones that are are 90%+ and the ones in progress are trending overwhelming positive. shaping up to be a massive financial and critical success for Larian.
I didn't play EA so not sure if this applied there, but as far as I can tell until it's a specific quest that requires them you don't need someone in your active party to get approval/disapproval from them. Does that also apply to inspiration bonuses?
Edit : ok 5 hours straight from launch, time to take a break.
I also didn't play EA, so I don't know if this comes up later, but Gale has got the be the most untrustworthy motherfucker ever. Just everything he says sounds so fake and seems sus. I'm getting Camelia vibes from this dude.
I'm so happy there are so many people enjoying this.
I'm SUPER happy for Larian. They deserve so much. Truly a great developer that cares about the quality, its workers and the fans.
Super hyped for this one will start downloading now.
It appears to be that Larian did not disappoint…again. I’m playing their games since Divine/Beyond Divinity, I remember enjoying them even more than Diablo but hot damn excelling this way…what a success story for them.
And yeah, textures could be a little better (noticeably lower res during close up scenes), but everything else about the graphical presentation is top notch.
It feels weak, but I'm honestly thinking that the first 4 characters I got are honestly the best team for me going for. If you're sticking with the characters defined classes then obviously Astarion is essential as a rogue, and Gale and Shadowheart provide your always needed Wizard and Cleric. Throw in using Karlach as my POV character and it's everything a nice well rounded party needs. Switch out the slot taken by Gale as needed for specific quest or character interactions.
buying this saturday morning when my wife leaves for disney.
not sure what party to run yet. don't wanna feel compelled to take Astarion but hope there's enough leeway to run dungeons without a rogue. Shadowheart a probable romance so she's in. Gale is p funny. weee shall seeee.
I think you can get away with not using Astarion as long as someone else in the party has decent DEX, just might need to stock up on Thief Tools. Thinking Wyll might be an ok option for that and he'll give you a CHR based character for conversation checks.
i'm a sorcerer myself so charisma / party face taken care of, need a frontliner or two. haven't even run into Karlach yet lawlz so Lae'zel for now
My takeaway from the first 7 or 8 hours is maybe I should have been a bard, game drowning me in bard loot.
