So what I did (am doing) was about half way into act 3 (or what felt like it) I just started a 2nd campaign. Picked a new race/class etc and set off to do it all over again. So I play some of my first run then hop over to my second run- or just play one. Whatever. If felt this was a good way to try new things and made new choices . Its nuts how different everything can be.
Ya not gonna lie its a little jarring to play Starfield after this even though I am having fun. Back to actions and events not mattering a whole lot when in BG3 the detail of reactions to things was so big.
Why are they so good

https://www.pcgamer.com/jim-southworth-obituary/Baldur's Gate 3 cinematic animation lead Jim Southworth has died: 'We will all forever have a Jim-shaped hole in our lives'
RIP, I remember their composer (Divinity) passed away in his early 50’s too.
I heard later acts are a bit heavy on computers and performance drops significantly, is this still true or did they patch/optimize this after release?
I can run Act 1 on everything on Ultra but I don't have a gaming PC, running on a laptop without dedicated graphics.
I had one accidental fight break out in the heart of the city and my laptop didn't like rendering that many people with all the s'plosions happening all at the same time. But it was more of a stutter and choke and move on thing. My laptop has a 3070ti card tho'
Ultra settings with an iGPU, are you getting like 10 fps?
Steady 60+ fps, it is M1 MBP (one of the earlier ARM Silicon versions). It's got an 8 core integrated GPU that nets 60 fps on most of the native Mac OS games on high settings (RE Village, Lies of P etc.)
I don't really use it for gaming but I don't have anything else I can play BG3.
Posting cuz I got the page glitch
will need to play through to see exactly of what it is composed but yuge, looks like the ending's fixed with a whole new Citadel-esque epilogue chapter. harder difficulty mode as well + inventory management finally (somewhat) fixed. among Larian's admirable qualities is a willingness to fix their fuck-ups. DOS II only got better and better over time and BG3 following suit.

oh man they made Minthara recruitable on good runs too. it appears my impatience for the drussy led me to an unnecessary massacre of war refugees.
this must be how IDF members feel
Jesus christ I love larian
They are fucking amazing. Can't imagine many studios putting in months of work to an epilogue and then not only adding it to the game, but it's free. I think it should have been there to begin with, but if this were Dragon Age, EA would charge for it.
And they're still working on improving the game. I hope they never sell out to anyone. And with the success of this game, they won't need to.
gonna have to play again damnit
people say that a lot but i think gaming just had one of its best years ever and is in a ballin state. a lot of trends out there are terrible and some previously brilliant studios have been nearly destroyed by them, Bioware, Blizzard, CA, but man there's so much good vidya out there.
EA did in fact charge for it with both Citadel and Trespasser lawlz
both of them banged tho. still hope Larian throws down some DLC at some point but if not eh, wonderful game and the definitive edition is gonna be a whole lot better than the already excellent release.
