Alan Wake 2 had taken over for my favorite game this year due to how BG3 kinda whiffed on the ending/final act, but man this pretty well puts it back in front depending on what the epilogue is like. Find out when I get home from work

EA did in fact charge for it with both Citadel and Trespasser lawlz

both of them banged tho. still hope Larian throws down some DLC at some point but if not eh, wonderful game and the definitive edition is gonna be a whole lot better than the already excellent release.

Yeah. I didn't play trespasser but citadel was lit and I didn't really mind paying for it. Remains to be seen how comprehensive this epilogue really is but maybe I wouldn't have minded paying for this either. That said I do feel the ending was very lacking and borderline bad before so this was needed for me.

agreed, ending was truncated trash no two ways about it, but it appears Larian has righted that wrong. will reinstall and fire up the epilogue tonight to see how meaty this shebang is.

oh man they made Minthara recruitable on good runs too. it appears my impatience for the drussy led me to an unnecessary massacre of war refugees.

Where did you find this out in the notes? I seem to read over that somehow.

My first thought lol. But I play games so slow and I put so many hours into this already, I'll probably come back to it in a year or two by which time hopefully all the updates are completed.

It says if you knock her out, she will now appear at Moonrise Towers in the notes

data miners say Halsin will still force you to pick between them if you try to recruit both but ye just bonk her in Act 1 and you'll get the option evilers always have at Moonrise

Did they confirm that she'd be recruitable if you knock her out though? The way they worded their post made it seem like that may not be the case, it looked oddly ambiguous.

i mean keep tabs on Reddit as i'm sure someone will speedrun it asap, but didn't seem ambiguous at all to me. knocking her out will trigger the Moonrise content for her which is a single scene with her then the opportunity to recruit. for Larian to make a fork dependent on if players kill or KO her just for her to have her single scene then strip the opportunity to recruit, which is one of the fanbase's most requested features, would be rather idiotic and i strongly doubt they would do it.

I've been able to go fight the final boss for over a week now and haven't really been motivated from what everyone says about the ending.

There's multiple things that can mean, I don't want to post spoilers but not all of her dialogue there is recruitment dialogue even as an evil character. That's sort of why I'm like "Maybe...?"

you are lonesome in thinking that. overwhelming majority of the fanbase on Twitter, Reddit, Steam forums, whatever, are reading it the same and she's recruitable

like i said i think more highly of Larian than to create a fork just to give her the single cutscene then immediately kill her anyways but it would in fact be hilarious

The epilogue is legit. It's about an hour's worth of dialogue and there's a lot of options.

If they launched the game the state that it's in now, I don't know if it would have competition to be dethroned for the GOAT, ever. Even so, with all the fixing they've done, the epilogue added, and will probably continue to work on, this is my game of the decade.

Today's update just feels nice and I really was not expecting it.

It's important to note, I used a mod to recruit Minthara to my good party and she has dialogue with and about all the other companions that leave when you decide to side with the goblins. So it must have been in conversation for a while before deciding to lock her behind an evil play through.

I'll find out over the next couple weeks I guess, but it ,makes sense. If you knock her out before she's able to commit the atrocities she means to enact in the name of the Absolute and then you go to Moonrise and she's near the Artifact which clears her head, it meshes.

I mean, I've been begging for this since I started the game. They ain't gods for giving a basic feature.

Lot of other good stuff though. Especially if they fixed the endings.
