I watched an overview video and had that thought. My biggest gripes with the movie, despite it being overall decent, were too many unexplained plot points.

Where did the saber come from? Where is Luke's if he kept Leia's?

Why create Snoke? Why not just clone yourself and have it kill you?

Why did Lando stay on the planet after Luke left?

Where is the destroyer that blew up Zori's home? Where was she that she wasn't on it?

Why no explanation of Finn and his force sensitivity despite constant references to it?

How did Kylo even know to look for a wayfinder? What were the Knights doing the whole time and where the hell did they come from?

How did Palpatine survive? Who kept him alive and why?

Why did it take until Rey almost dying for the Jedi to reach out to her? Why did she die afterwards?

Why did Ben die even though he's supposed to be a Skywalker?

Who was Palpatine with that gave him a daughter or son with zero force sensitivity and then a granddaughter? Why did her parents not use the force?

Where the hell did the casino planet kid go?

Why did Leia have the medal at the end? Who's was it?

Why was Poe acting general and not Lando?

What injured the snake?

Annnnnnddddddd how in the ever living shit would they fit all that in?

A lot of it I was definitely curious about, but it was already 2 1/2 hours long. If this wasn't pre-determined to be the last one, I'm sure they would have loved to include all of it. Realistically, no way it's possible.

I actually did like the second one for the most part, but it spiraled the plot and sub plots out of control.

I'm in the camp that feels if trilogy had the same writers/director for all 3 it would have avoided most of the issues. Obviously it would have been more consistent, but we'll never know if it would have been better or worse.

His first "wuh-HOHHHHHH!" right after the super serious and dark C3P0 sith message was incredible comedic timing, me and my buddy were dying laughing in the theater

There were a few other alien moments that were played really comedic like Lando's(?) Alien pilot ("O-K!")

Weird aliens is something I will always say Star Wars beats Star Trek in. The aliens in Star Wars look, well, alien. The ones in Star Trek just look like humans with make up.

The focus was on Leia being on the bridge. If Ackbar was there he was in the background and not very noticeable.

I think they showed his ship exploding during Palpatine's force lightning. I definitely remember seeing him dying.

TLJ would have been better if Holdo’s role was replaced with Ackbar. He is the one who chastises Poe and it doesn’t come off as misandry. Ackbar sacrifices his life the same way Holdo did. It’s a fitting end to a beloved character instead of one the audience has only known (and disliked) for one hour. Now Poe and Junior have a more fleshed out relationship and character development in TROS.

Plus we were robbed of the scene of Ackbar getting off a one liner “It’s a trap” before he engages lightspeed to take out the First Order fleet.
