There’s absolutely no way in hell this happens simply because Carrie Fisher is dead.
This one fact alone completely eradicated any possibility of this happening. That final film was her legacy. They’re not going to touch that.

Honestly that's the best way forward. It happened. Move on. They're never gonna be able to get rid of the EP 7-9 label.
Come up with a new trilogy to build on it.
Let the Skywalker saga die. Dip more in to the EU/Legends and give us new shit.

Mandalorian proved imo that you can do more star wars and not have it be about skywalkers. TLJ tried setting up a universe where being a skywalker didnt matter, just for them to flip and double down in RoS and made it being a Palpatine is also doable. Bleh

Tried to set up a universe where being a skywalker didn’t matter... in movie 8 of 9 about... the skywalkers. I understand the want and even the need to expand out of the skywalker saga but those 9 movies are about that name. End of story. From start to finish.
Hell, even recent canon is now suggesting that “skywalker” is more of a loose term for being an individual devoted to balance. There’s articles talking about how Qui Gon may be considered a skywalker, etc.
If ep9 wasn't what it was, then we absolutely would be saying 7-9 is where it became clear this was a series about something that isn't skywalkers.
But ep9 doubled down on it while undoing ep8 at the same time so yeah...fuck that I guess

I still roll my eyes at the fact that I waited for two years just for the opening scene of that trash movie to be luke accepting his old saber then turning around and throwing it off the cliff.
So subverted. My god that’s ridiculous.
Do people still pretend TLJ was good?
No.
Don't have to pretend about a good movie.
TLJ was the worst Star Wars movie since The Force Awakens
The latest rumor.
https://themotherofallnerds.com/star...posed-trilogy/Star Wars: George Lucas Reportedly Will Return To Direct His Initial Proposed Trilogy
Years ago, Disney rejected the filmmaker’s proposals and removed him from the franchise. Following the failure of Episode IX, his return behind the scenes will finally be a reality.
The latest installment of Star Wars, The Rise of Skywalker, which terribly failed, did not appease fans and forced the company to rethink the course of the franchise. Among all the options, the rumors about the return of George Lucas continued to gain momentum on social networks.
According to various media outlets, the creator of the intergalactic saga is eager to develop a new trilogy that serves as a direct sequel to the original story: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and The Return of the Jedi.
It should be recollected that George Lucas always wanted to make the seventh, eighth and ninth episode. However, Disney dismissed the ideas he submitted and set him aside from future projects.
Apparently, the filmmaker wanted to explore the scientific aspect of the Force by expanding on the “microbiotic world”. The story would have concentrated on Luke, Leia, han Solo, R2-D2 and C-3PO, but now he will have to find new actors to fill their roles.
All three films would have featured creatures called Whills that feed on the Force and control the universe. According to the creator of the saga, the Whill use humans as containers to move around the world.
It should be noted that these new films will not erase the latest Disney trilogy from continuity, since they will be set in another part of the galaxy. This would mean that all the rumors about eliminating Rey from the official history of Star Wars would be ruled out.
Already sounds bogus since it still takes place in the same universe. Can't just have two versions of the main cast running around. Also, good luck recasting these iconic roles. It worked out "so well" for the Solo movie.

So... Space parasites/space corona?
Lucas doesn’t own the rights to Star Wars anymore. You don’t need to think about this BS rumor any more further than that.
