I have no idea what I'm doing I guess I'm building some cookie cutter paladin with my confessor start. Do I just put all my points in str lmao
absolute drip above
i remain incensed i'm stuck in this stupid pasta country and won't be playing for another two months
PC party people how is the performance? network security issues remain? UW support?
This is the type of peer pressure I'm going to warn my son about.
Basically garbage.
No UW unless you play offline to bypass anti cheat and run a mod/workaround.
60fps cap.
Seems to have some occasional stutter or other issues on 3k series cards, but nothing major that's caused me to die or get mad just unexpected and unusual for a game made in the last 5-10 years.
It's a bad console port until they apply some updates and remove the parity between the consoles.
WELL THAT'S DISAPPOINTING
Japanese devs release patches for PC glacially but fingers crossed at least some of it is cleaned up soon. no UW support in 2022 tho good gravy.
enjoying it so far mijo? know you always struggled with liking Souls's stamina system and the weighty/ponderous combat
This is the first game that has performed poorly on my PC. Weird bisexual lighting pink/blue blooms popping up, zebra-striping rectangular blocks frequently, it's playable but not great.
The no UW support is killin me, NGL. Hate having black bars when I play.
I rated 1 star on Steam just due to that and put that in the comments. Hoping others do the same and it grabs some attention.
Ultrawide gaming only exists for people to complain about games not supporting ultrawide
so im about 35 hours in. never played any souls games before but ive watched people play bloodborne because that game looks cool
i have decided this game absolutely rules. first couple hours are rough (probably more so for me since no souls experience) but getting the hang of mechanics and boss fights/leveling up makes the game adequately challenging/rewarding
i reserve the right to change my mind if i get curbstomped later tho
also that’s with me just hacking my way through the game. haven’t cast one spell besides summons, haven’t crafted a thing, etc.
game has so much to do. heading through the third major area and just saw a combo of ruins/catacombs right next to each other and thought sure, why not
Yeah, that's the great thing about souls games. You can play and get through them just fine with different styles. I'm like you and don't use magic. I don't even use shields. It's just double handing a weapon and dodging.
If you're really enjoying this, then you should try the other games. They're not open world like this one, but the level design and atmosphere are S tier. Combat wise they're mostly the same except for Bloodborne and Sekiro (used to be my top 2 favorite, but Elden Ring is in there somewhere now) which are a little more fast paced and action-y, but still feel like a souls game.
The other souls games are basically a whole game of just what the "legacy dungeons" in this one are. Like Stormveil Castle. I've only done that one but I'm sure theres more
At stormhill theres 5 giants all close to each other. They give 1000 runes each (sometimes you get 5000/kill don’t know why). If you get on your horse, kite the giants so that they all clump together, then run around in circles (takes some dodging and maneuvering) they kill each other with AOEs. Easy 5k runes which is a lot in the beginning of the game. Flame nearby to reset mobs or in case you die.
Probably not the most efficient early rune farming, but definitely fun.
For those that are big fans of cheesing it, I strongly suggest you look into Hoarfrost Stomp, either finding the Ash of War or the Icerind Hatchet (both are in Liurnia).
It does obscene amounts of damage (the one on the Icerind does like 6x more damage then my normal swings) with a pretty wide AOE while also applying Frost for only 10 FP. It is absolutely going to be nerfed here at some point so I'd recommend enjoying it before that happens.
