so ive tried to avoid spoilers and have done so for the most part, but as I’ve been progressing through the game as ive played it (did royal capital after academy, and now on mountaintop of giants) and seeing other people do it differently (most people going to caelid for radahn after academy), it seems like it doesn’t really matter what direction you go from what ive seen online and ill leave it at that

basically (not saying anything specific here, but spoilering anyway):

advancing through academy and then mountaintop advances the plot, doing “other stuff” like going to volcano or caelid is just that: other stuff for more exploration. you will eventually end up fighting those bosses anyway, but will miss out on the exploration aspect/items and bosses on the way

Well I'm really disappointed, was planning my whole build around Eleanora's Poleblade only to find it and realize it and the arcane katana are both bugged and currently have 0 scaling. Thankfully you get a ton of respecs in this game but damn it's a really cool weapon. Swapped to moonveil build and am really happy with it.

If it helps anyone feel better, like in the case above, there are unlimited respecs since the item is farmable from what I've read.

God the magic is gone from this game for me and it's all about the memes and making my samurai wreck with his dark flame or fire uchikatana. Went to sleep at the academy fighting the witch, and wow I forgot how crazy some of these battles could be after spending 20hrs doing misc random shit while exploring and power leveling lol.

When I get back around to it I'm definitely going NG+ to try out a full dragon communion build plus enjoy the shit out of the final bosses rememberance weapon, both of which I definitely couldn't really experience starting over.

Is level 51-52 good enough for Radahn (Samurai)? I heard the battle is quite punishing and I want to have a reasonable strength against him.
