the zips while fighting maliketh are impressive tho, f that guy
The pinned comment that explains the run says it's done on "current patch (1.03)" cause of stability
Haven't played in a while so I'm not sure if that's actually the current version.
But yeah, it's been really interesting watching this game's time keep dropping so much. I remember watching his 30min run and then the next day he released 18mins. And now this
If you check the stream the few times it does a full restart
OFFLINE
App Ver 1.03.2
Calibration Ver 1.03.3
Oh man, the end of the Sellen quest D:
I doubt From really cares, it's not something affecting the general player base and has zero relevance outside of the speed runners
Distortion is at 6:59 now lol. Same run as above, but with more consistent zips.
Its someone cathartic watching someone rage at that fucking Whirlwind Blade move she uses in BOTH PHASES cause I legit never learned how to fully dodge it. I was able to MOSTLY dodge it by rolling into her instead of away from her, because the move circles her but has an eye-of-the-storm effect... but the last hit of her 3 whirlwind combo always hit regardless because by this point she was too close so her diving toward me always randomized where she'd be and it just didn't matter which way I rolled, never figured it out, just got lucky and my Mimic Tear helped a ton too.
i have no interest in watching any of those speed runs so i'll just ask here. do they actually kill anything in their runs or just glitch/warp from spot to spot? and if they do fight something do they actually fight it or just glitch it to make it stand still or some shit
the early methods had a combination of zips and fights that abused hoarfrost stomp to kill some bosses, but new zips were found that make it possible to pretty much skip right to the end of the game
guessing they somehow get around fighting radagon/elden beast then since i wouldnt think killing them in 6-9 minutes at that low a level would be possible
Logging out to drop aggro and stopping the timer is just fucking stupid.
I get why they stop the timer, not everyone has the same pc specs and penalizing someone for not having a god tier rig isnt fair, but at the same time, its stupid.
ie:
4:10 he logs out to drop aggro, no punishment to his speedrun time. Is it necessary to log out there and drop aggro or is it a 100% chance to affect the run if its not done?
he logs out to drop agro so he doesn’t get hit doing the next zip yeah. the old runs that were longer they did that too but in more places
the category is literally anything goes (on any patch) so the people who actually speedrun the game are fine with it. there’s other categories like all remembrances that actually have to fight bosses that people might enjoy more if that’s your thing
Yeah, I was going to say that almost every game has an "anything goes" category, and if that's not your thing, there are other categories that ban that stuff.
And even then, it's not like those zips are super easy to do to the point that it equates to entering a command to beat the game. They're frame perfect and require precise movement, so doing them within a few tries in multiple areas does require skill.
Reminds me of when people discovered the warp glitch in OoT that takes them straight to Ganon’s castle from the first boss I believe. Created an entirely new category for speed running that game lol.
