surpasses Blood and Wine to become highest ever rated DLC
same
in fact double same to the eurogamer review. i saw a lot of capital g gamers frothing at the mouth over it but i think fans as a whole have forgotten reviews are supposed to represent an individual viewpoint and their value is in their content, aggregate sites and the death of critical engagement with media consumption has wrecked a lot of discourse and all most care about is the number.
launch trailer
spoiler warning this shows a lot of bosses
A punishing, unfair level of difficulty can be a fair point to raise. I like critical reviews, they point out specifically what the player should pay attention to, and do his own evaluation. In Eurogamer's defense, the x article is a clickbait, the review mentions many other issues focusing mostly on how it doesn't feel like a Fromsoft game. It even complains about handholding.
patch notes that aren’t spoilers:
they changed the bandai logo screen to not flashbang your eyes
there is a “new items” tab to show things you’ve picked up recently (have to enable it)
you can summon your horse to fight elden beast because everyone is a crybaby
They nerfed Taker's Flame, glad I decided to not roll with the Blasphemous Blade build right off the bat
But the cheese is what made it fun, I want my free spammable knockdowns
It's still really good but yeah the knockdown just made it hilarious to use I'll miss it.
At least Wing of Astel didn't get touched they still don't know lol
They definitely aimed to kill some of the extreme cheese before everyone jumps into the DLC, like the poise damage on the beam from Moonlight GS or the builds revolving around massive one shot damage using buffs like Terra Magica + Cerulean Hidden Tear
Its been around 2 years since I lost touched the game and apparently you need to defeat The Blood Lord to be able to start the expansion...lol.
It took me a good while to recall how to use the quick access menu or heck how to heal. Mohg battle was a good warm up nevertheless ...still feeling way too rusty especially with blocks and evasions.
you need to kill Radahn also if you haven’t done so on this playthrough
All done, ready for the expansion. I am a clumsy tarnished running around swinging the Hand of Malenia lol.
Thought for sure it was going to be the heal when I saw you said this, but looks like it's just the knockdown cheese. Good. Not my main weapon but definitely on the swap list if I need some heals.
Still undecided if I'm going to roll with my OG Godslayer Greatsword, or Siluria's Tree. I also have Sacred Relic at +10 but I don't think that's something I want to experience new content with (even more cheesy than Takers Flame lol).
Ok I’m in!
The initial zone looks so fucking awesome. Assuming you are done with Radahn and Mohg you just have to examine the hand hanging out of the cocoon in the room where you fight Mohg. Probably the best looking thing my PS4 ever displayed, sets the mood just as it should. The zone puts you into action rather fast, but in a way that serves as a warm up area. The difficulty spikes up the moment you venture out a bit but you’ll know.
First boss I encountered (a miniboss) could easily 2 shot my level 160 character so that should give you an idea about the expected progress required for the pack.
edit: welp, apparently even regular soldiers are able to 2-shot my character. This DLC is no joke in terms of difficulty.
Ah shit I just remembered you can actually pause Elden Ring by digging into the Help Menu.
Hell yeah get to play while on duty
