So is it normal to be gated on the main quest by AR? Expected it to happen... just not a AR7. Am I missing some major quests to get to AR10?

Normal, yes. That's where treasure chest comes into play, and there's some 1558ish out there to find, giving you AR exp, EXP books, artifacts, weapons/fodder, and primo gems for summoning. Also, spend your resin and don't let it reach cap, as it also gives you AR exp when you use it. There are also World Quest that will give you AR and stuff too. It's a big world, so have at it. Just, don't use the Fragile Resin items you get, because those are better spent AR45+ on whatever you need to keep building your characters.

Depending on your pace, there's plenty of quests and chests to get you comfortably to AR35ish after which the leveling pace slows down a lot and you're at the mercy of scavenging whatever chests remains, daily commissions, and daily resin for adventure exp. They did release city reputation weeklies which I think unlock at AR25 or 27 so those will also help.

The only way to speed it up is buy resin replenishments with primo gems which increase in cost per replenishment and also only capped at 6 per day. I personally wouldn't recommend doing that many replenishments a day unless you feel like whaling for it but if you decide to get the monthly Welkin pack which gives you 90 primos per day, it's worth to replenish at least once a day imo. You end up losing out on what amounts to 10 pulls per month but you end up gaining 90 more runs of leylines/domains and 15,000 AR Exp.

As mentioned before, spend your resin on the current event instead of anything else if possible. It will do wonders for you just starting out. Everyone else pretty much covered the basics, so I'll just add that you don't need to worry too much about Artifacts until AR45, but try to work on your character talents once you reach the point where you can upgrade them.

also, there are treasures hidden all over the map called "geoculi" and "amenoculi" that are part of a completion task to get more stamina. if you want to save yourself a headache down the line, consider using a map like the following to track them as you collect them. it's not 100% necessary since the game gives you tools to help locate them, but it helps a lot

It's also probably not worth refreshing until AR 40 as well, due to being limited to lower level domains, and lower quality boss drops. I'll probably start refreshing at AR 49, when I stop and switch to all artifact farming for AR 50 prep. So far I haven't done any refreshes and still some 28 fragile resin banked, and I've leveled two full parties/weapons/L6 talents to L80, so refreshing is definitely not needed, if you buy the Welkin and BP passes.

Hmm, so game telling me I dont want Tartaglia. Pulled Qiqi (Const. 1) from this banner back on Nov. 6th, then today, making a last ditch effort on Tartaglia... got another Qiqi. Isn't this supposed to not happen? -- pretty sure if the 5* you pull isn't the banner character, the next one is guaranteed right?

Why am I even still playing this game?

You sure it was all done on the featured character banner and the first Qiqi wasn't on the standard? Pity is suppose to carry over as well as the guaranteed pity. If it was all on the featured then you're the first I've heard of not getting the guaranteed feature character. You can check the banner history to be sure since your rolls are separated for each banner.

The first one was on 11/06, before Tartaglia banner started on 11/11 - so, that's why... my pity carried over, but since this was the first 5 Star I pull on THIS banner (which in of itself is sad...), it was only 50/50 him (and it wasn't).

I imagine while the pity transfers from Featured to Featured, the guaranteed Banner-Unit does not.

Each Banner Type has it's own Pity, which are the Standard, Character Event, and Weapon Event banners, and the pity is shared within those categories, so if you don't hit pity, in one banner, you can hit it in a later one, of the same category. in the Character Event banner, the first 5* you pull, has a 50% chance to be the Banner 5* or any other standard banner 5*, so you could get it in as little as one pull, or 180 pulls, though there's some evidence that about 80% will hit the first 5* around the 70-80 pull mark.

I have no idea on the intricacies of how the Weapon Event banner decides to pick which 5* it gives you when you do hit pity or pull one, and the Standard banner just pulls from whatever is listed in there, with new stuff further diluting the pool, when added.

Weapon banner is a 50/50 on either of the featured weapons for the first pity (featured or other 5* weapon), then guaranteed on the next pity to get a featured. So what that means is that you can get fucked and only pull one of the featured weapons every time. For example, whale friend got a r5 Lost Prayer before he saw his first Gravestone.

And yea, guaranteed pity is supposed to carry over which is why I'm wondering what happened with Sumy cause if they pulled Qiqi on Klee's banner and not standard, the second Qiqi should have been Childe.

Decided to try for some Ningguang constellations since I had only done 5 pulls since my last 5-star (Childe). Figured it would be safe to build up my pity counter for Zhongli. Nope, pull #37 gives me Childe #2 (C1; also 0 Ningguangs and 2 each Beidou/Diona). Bittersweet since I didn't want to pull a 5-star, but I know how good that C1 is.
