New Abyss feels like it has more HP in general because of all the bosses, but still feels easier because no fucking spastic ghost wolves with 2 million HP.

Also finally got my next 5* off the standard banner with the tree wishes, C1 Diluc which is nice because I still like Diluc, and it wasn't C4 Keqing. Also had a moment of weakness and burned a lot pulling for Shenhe (guaranteed) and then her weapon, where I got another Amos bow (R2 for Ganyu) first and then Calamity Queller. I kinda regret doing it with both Yae and Ayato on the horizon, but I'll cross those bridges when we get there I suppose. I'll still have probably ~100 wishes by the time Yae gets here.

Shenhe and Yunjin are long-term investments, but you can make them work right now. Shenhe, Ayaka/Ganyu, Chongus + Flex is pretty damn strong, and though I don't have Kokomi *shakes Fist* I do have C2 Jean, which has less CC but way more damage. I think I'd swap Rosaria for Chongus if she wasn't C0 but regardless, Shenhe is the more expensive one needing other 5* to really shine. Yunjin helps a low constellation Itto hit harder when CA aren't up and melts face with Yoimiya but once we get a true NA polearm DPS character, her benefit skyrockets. Maybe even Ayato if the new leaks aren't sus.

tbh my favorite party with Shenhe so far has been just Chongus as main DPS. However, my Chongyun is C6 which makes a huge difference by giving his Q that fourth sword. been running Diona/Venti/Shenhe/Chongyun so try and use as many of Shenhe's quills as possible

So far I think Shenhe is exactly what I expected: limited in scope, balanced by being fairly strong within that niche. She's nice to have if you want to use her and yet it's very easy to forget she exists. Her dps is nuts with enough investment though, definitely better than I expected

I mostly caved because I wanted to use Ayaka more, who she's great support for. But I really didn't need her, and I knew Yae and Ayato are coming. It was a bit of a poor decision on my part, but you live and learn I guess haha. It's the first time I've really caved in the 1.5 years the game's been out, so it's not the end of the world.

I'm the opposite, I've been having 36 star the past few abyss, but this one I'm having a lot of trouble with. Thunder Manifestation is the bane of my existence, and the 12 floor also makes me cry with the perpetual array and primo geovishap

The Thunder Manifestation is in fact a giant ball-ache. I just Ganyu power through it, but Yoimiya (or even a physical Fischl build) is probably the best bet. Ningguang probably does all right too, it's just a pain in the ass for melee characters.

Primo Geovishap is also annoying but I just Raiden my way through it. The Array I don't really have any issues with, and it's also mercifully on the first half this time so you can reset quickly if you get one of the shitty robots for the core break. The most annoying chamber for me was the Magu Kenki at the end because I used a freeze team for the Hydro Abyss Lectors, which is useless on MK.

I think I can get there, it's just annoying I think I'll have to switch teams for every chamber on floor 12, max energy before the floor and then reset and repeat after beating it for the next one.

unrelated, this story quest has me noticing that Shenhe actually has rainbow eyes, which I never noticed in any of the art and you can't really see in menus. so pretty <3

Her eyes are hair are a result of the treatment the Aspects did to quell her rage.

Well, luck wasn't on my side. Took everything I had to get Ganyu, so I either now grab whatever possible and hope for fast Zhongli or keep saving for Yae, booh.
On the upside, got a ton of constellations for other characters, lol. Including C5 for Xinqgqiu, so I can C6 him with the event.

Hmm, thoughts here?

I hear how great a DPS Ganyu is, but bow characters don't click. I played as Ayaka during one of the more recent event and her playstyle clicks. I just didn't luck out during her banner. I have Zhongli at C1, but didn't luck out in getting him to C2 during the last rerun: Just figured having shield refresh on burst would be good..and Zhongli's a frequent slot on my roster.

So what I'm torn on:

-Suck it up; git gud with bow characters, pull for Cocogoat (I don't have Amos bow; but I have..whatever bow is Childe's 5 star)
-C2 Geo Daddy
-Save Primos and wait for Ayaka rerun.

1) I dunno if Polar Star is better than the craftable Hamayumi for Ganyu, but I know she can't properly use the entire passive on Polar Star, which is lame.
2) DPS characters are DPS characters are DPS characters. Having said that, variety is the spice of life, and Ganyu's playstyle isn't exactly difficult (unless you're playing on mobile). Aim, wait, shoot, repeat. Melt Ganyu comps have a little more nuance than that but the idea is still the same.
3) If you really just hate her playstyle in the trial run, I'd probably just wait for Ayaka if you liked her.

I'm of the strong opinion that constellations for 5*s are not nearly as valuable as the 5*s themselves (most of the time). Zhongli's in particular, while nice, are all just quality-of-life things. Shield on burst is just convenient, but you can just... E before you burst. I'll always recommend waiting for a character you don't have and want, because another character just adds way more to your account. Ayato is heavily rumoured to be in the patch after Yae, and I'd expect Ayaka's rerun to happen around Ayato's debut so you I don't think you'll have to wait too long, and Cryo is very strong right now so having either Ganyu or Ayaka will be a big boost for most players.

tl:dr I'd get Ganyu or wait for Ayaka if you really just can't stand Ganyu's playstyle.

Like you I'm generally of the mind that new 5* is better than constellation.

I'll give her another run. Thanks for the tip on weapons, too: I'll keep Polar Star on Childe if I do pull/get her.
