I feel like sharing this because it's something I still remember. I'm not going to name any names so I guess it's ok.

I have a cousin that was a Commander in the Navy. After he retired from service he got recruited for military intelligence. During the second Gulf War there was talk it could spill over into Iran, we might have to send troops in etc.

We were at my Aunt's house and he was there. Someone asked him about it. He couldn't go into any specifics but he told my relatives this:

"If there is one country in the entire world we don't want to go to war with right now it's Iran."

He explained without going into any detail they have a more modern military because of who they are allied with, better trained, and willing to die because of religious indoctrination and all that. I remember how serious he was when talking about it and it left an impression on me.

If we send ground troops into Iran proper it is going to be a nightmare.
