The president appeared to have taken on the Afghanistan portfolio himself and cut many of his advisers — including Bolton — out of the matter.

Tensions reached a point at which Bolton reportedly was excluded from meetings about the war in Afghanistan, an issue that might otherwise have obviously fallen into the purview of the national security adviser.

But internal allies of Trump, who had become a dove and wanted to reach a peace agreement that would permit the withdrawal of most or all American forces from Afghanistan, felt they couldn't trust Bolton not to blow up the process.

At one point, special envoy Zalmay Khalilzad would not agree to let Bolton take a draft copy of the Afghanistan agreement out of the conference room where they were meeting.

One thing I had agreed with Trump was his view on the Iraq War and how we shouldn't have started that conflict. But what I didn't know was his reasoning for why he felt that way.

Trump is considering a nationwide ban on flavored e-cigarettes to protect innocent children.

Mr Trump told reporters vaping was a "new problem", especially for children.

US Health Secretary Alex Azar said the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would finalize a plan to take all non-tobacco flavors off the market.

Joining Mr Trump at the White House on Wednesday, Mr Azar said it would take the FDA several weeks to distribute the new guidance on e-cigarettes.

Mr Trump told reporters his administration would implement strong rules to protect "innocent children".

"We can't allow people to get sick and we can't have our youth be so affected," he said, adding that he hopes today's announcement will lead to parents becoming "tougher".

"People are going to watch what we're saying and parents are going be a lot tougher with respect to their children.

"A lot of people think vaping is wonderful, it's great. It's really not wonderful."

Honestly given the amount of deaths and lung sickness that is happening right now due to vaping I am surprised they don't ban it completely until they can figure out why peoples lungs are just shutting down.

In the long run though a ban on flavored vaping makes sense.

Vaping helped my wife and I get off cigs (Both 10+ year smokers), so it is hard for me to be for this sort of thing. I understand what draws young people to it, but from the perspective of a smoker, it helped more than anything.

Edit: We don't smoke anything now FYI. Just kept lowering the nic down to 0, and then just slowed the use until I stopped.

I find it amusing that this subject will get so much traction. We still haven't drawn and quartered any pharma execs over the opioid crisis, and we are more than happy to let the country drown itself in sweetened everything (diabetes is significantly more of an issue than these vaping afflictions) but we will instantly jump at the first chance and do something about vaping? Please kiss my ass...tobacco lobbyists are just looking for a way to bring back some ex smoking children.
