Almost like he was starting to divert and throw Pence under the bus.

Everyone who isn't a staunch conservative Trump supporter (aka the majority of this country) is totally screwed right now. The system is broken beyond repair. I mean, it's pretty obvious from both the hearing proceedings with Nunez and the tweetstorm that the current iteration of the GOP only gives a shit about staying in power.

Why is this a big deal?

Because it reinforces the idea that the democrats and more moderate people in this country are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Do nothing about the corruption and it continues to corrupt. Do something about it and it energizes the people who put the corruption in power in the first place and helps increase the chances that it stays there.

The gerrymandering along with how the electoral college functions ensures that rooting out this type of corruption is an uphill battle. It is a sign that the Republicans and their supporters truly do not care about the rule of law or anything other than staying in power.
