Trump’s comments were a roundabout reference to a report from the Justice Department’s inspector general last year that noted the iPhones used by Strzok and Page during their short stints on Mueller’s staff had been reset to factory settings, erasing the messages they contained. Though Trump and his allies have pointed to that fact as evidence of a conspiracy, the inspector general noted that Strzok’s phone was reviewed before it was erased and that the move to wipe the data was a standard practice

“As part of an office records retention procedure, the [special counsel’s] Records Officer stated that she reviewed Strzok’s phone on September 6, 2017,” the inspector general found. “She told the [IG] that she determined it did not contain records that needed to be retained. Reddit's management expressed concern that the subreddit was dysfunctional because of the earlier removal of tools designed to help its members express opposition to others' posts and flag banned content.

As part of the quarantine, it added, the forum had been forced to reinstate the relevant buttons.

Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson cited an awkward encounter with President Donald Trump's son-in-law in a restaurant as an example of diplomacy being conducted behind his back when he was in the administration, according to a transcript of a congressional hearing released Thursday.

Tillerson, who was fired by Trump in March 2018, mentioned the story during a day of closed-door testimony before the House Foreign Affairs Committee about his rocky, 13-month tenure as secretary of state. He described his surprise to find that he happened to be dining in the same Washington restaurant while Jared Kushner and Mexican Secretary of Foreign Affairs Luis Videgaray had a private meal.

The former top U.S. diplomat and CEO of ExxonMobil said he "could see the color go out" of the Mexican official's face when Tillerson greeted them at their table with a smile.

He said it was a "unique situation" to have the president's son-in-law as a White House adviser, saying "there was not a real clear understanding" of Kushner's role and responsibilities.

"No one really described what he was going to be doing," he said. "I just knew what his title was."

Tillerson said there other examples. Two of the people she told about the incident have come forward with new details, like one of them convinced her not to go to the police at the time.

Ms Martin, a TV news anchor in 1975-95, and Ms Birnbach, a writer, spoke publicly for the first time about the alleged sexual assault on the New York Times podcast The Daily.

Ms Carroll, the Elle columnist, said in the same podcast she had called Ms Birnbach straight after the alleged assault, telling her that Mr Trump had forced himself on her.

Ms Birnbach responded by saying she thought it was rape, urging Ms Carroll to call the police.

"Let's go to the police. I'll take you to the police" Ms Birnbach said, but added that her friend refused.

Ms Carroll described what had happened between her and Mr Trump as a "fight", not "a crime".

She also told the podcast she felt that she had encouraged Mr Trump's behaviour. Asked whether she felt responsibility for what happened, she said: "One hundred percent."

Ms Carroll said two or three days later she also told Ms Martin about the alleged assault.

Ms Martin advised against calling the police, saying Mr Trump was a powerful men with numerous lawyers.

President Trump said Thursday that he is seeking to delay the constitutionally mandated census to give administration officials time to come up with a better explanation for why it should include a citizenship question.


Trump’s announcement, in tweets sent from Japan, came hours after the Supreme Court put on hold his administration’s plan to add a citizenship question to the 2020 Census, saying it had provided a “contrived” reason for wanting the information.


“Seems totally ridiculous that our government, and indeed Country, cannot ask a basic question of Citizenship in a very expensive, detailed and important Census, in this case for 2020,” Trump wrote in his tweet. “I have asked the lawyers if they can delay the Census, no matter how long, until the United States Supreme Court is given additional information from which it can make a final and decisive decision on this very critical matter.”

They're just gonna do it anyways and say whoops, or too bad. What's the court gonna do, throw out the constitutionally mandated census? If anything the republican court will just toss out the answers to the citizenship question, which doesnt address the problem of the question which is under representation in the communities.

They're gonna bank on winning 2021 in which case it doesnt matter if they ignore the court. Or they lose, and Warren redoes the census anyways.
