It was Shanahan's then 17-year-old son who used the bat against his mom (Shanahan's ex-wife) like 10 years ago. Broke her skull, left her in a pool of blood. He didn't want that being brought back up during his confirmation (or another incident where he called the cops on his wife because she punched him in the face) so he dipped out.

Eh, I'd say it's purple with a majority of red, if it was completely red, we wouldn't of had such a close election last year.

That said, was watching the news last night and turned it off in disgust when they interviewed Trump groupees who acted like Trump is the second coming of Jesus SMH.

That is a pretty fucking bad take on a situation where you don't know the whole story. Just because one parent is a shitty person and a kid has to make a really tough decision in self defense doesn't make the kid shitty automatically. Unless you did some deep research into the situation before posting here but it doesn't seem like that.

There's no real merit to the "self-defense" idea here, Shanahan wrote (what he thought was) a private letter to his son's attorney before he knew the severity of the injuries speculating that it could've been in self-defense, but has since apologized for the speculation and said there was no justification for what his son did.

Trump has instructed Hope Hicks to not answer questions from the House Judiciary Committee.

White House counsel Pat Cipollone sent a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) on the eve of Hicks’s scheduled closed-door testimony, notifying the top Democrat that President Trump had instructed Hicks not to answer the panel’s questions about her time working in the White House.

“Ms. Hicks is absolutely immune from being compelled to testify before Congress with respect to matters occurring during her service as a senior adviser to the President,” Cipollone wrote Tuesday.

“Because of this constitutional immunity, and in order to protect the prerogatives of the Office of the President, the President has directed Ms. Hicks not to answer questions before the Committee relating to the time of her service as a senior adviser to the President,” he wrote.
