I'm not looking to "feel better."

You can say it's not fair to the families, but this is what the current issue is. We're separating families and making it harder to seek asylum.

If it were a school shooting we'd be talking about all the people that died and what we could do to reduce that from occurring. Not that that gets us anywhere, but it happens every time.

In the same vein, this issue isn't going to go away just because we aren't talking about it. If nobody talks about the issues nothing gets better, if people don't see what happening it's easier to ignore it. That's the way our world, or at least our country, works.

A lot of people show more concern about the message that cartoon sent than the message this president sends when he blocks asylum seekers, like the ones face down in that cartoon, from applying for asylum the "correct" way.

He literally made the problem and people are rustled because they're illustrating exactly what it is his policies did. If you're outraged about the cartoon, be outraged at the concentration camps along the border.

Those people are more concerned with politeness rather than progress. The white moderates MLK Jr. talks about in A Letter From A Birmingham Jail. They're the same people who are more upset at the cartoon than the reality because it could be impolite to some people.

Arguing on the families behalf is ignoring an ever growing segment of families and people who WANT their deaths politicized if it should happen. See kids wearing tshirts and talking about that point in regards to school shootings. It isn't a guarantee anymore that the families of these people will feel that way about the pictures and cartoons.

one could agrue it's incredibly insensitive to the family of the deceased, i could see that being reason enough to fire someone. imo the drawing is made in bad faith. not everyone shares the same political agenda when exploiting the deaths of minorities and children

Yup. As a resident from Parkland I can tell you whole heartily that people WANT to talk about it because they're sick of thoughts and prayers and the illusion of civility when it comes to their friends and neighbors prematurely dying due to bad policies.
