Bringing the migrant boat crisis to a shore near you.
Bringing the migrant boat crisis to a shore near you.
Its an alt right conspiracy that was pushed by dipshits like Jacob Wohl and that alt right girl chick who got banned from twitter and had a meltdown.
Wouldn't be surprised if James O'Keefe did something on it as well.
tbh can't tell if Fondue actually believes it or is just irony poisoned enough to meme it.
Edit: edit
Yeah, one solution to the asylum crisis would be appropriately staffing the asylum system.
Another solution would be continuing/ramping up the diplomatic efforts to keep potential asylum seekers in the northern triangle that the Trump administration axed (because there were asylum seekers.)
Another solution would be to give Mexico a better deal to basically handle the problem on their side (although this wouldn't be great for the asylum seekers, probably.)
One thing that is probably proven not to work at this point is being unnecessarily cruel to migrants at the border and then allowing / encouraging reporting about how cruel you are being in order to discourage future migrants. Doesn't seem like that one works, at least at the scale of "you may never see your kid again," and I'm not sure the administration would be able to go full death/torture camp without an injunction or something.
They're already in cages in unsanitary conditions. Were one resistant infection away from literal concentration camp shit here. No pseudo camp, is it or is it not shit, but full on illegal by that countries own standards but they're caging them and letting them die anyways shit.
And even then I dont think that would move the needle. Partisanship would win over that anyways.

I find it hilarious that during the Obama administration, Trump shit talked and complained so much to the point that some people found it endearing. But when a couple of nonwhite people say something bad about the Trump administration, those same people are ok with him trying to shut down their speech.
I've been told numerous times, mostly after 9/11, to go back to where I came from. It sucks and it's sad that this rhetoric still exists
wasn't it congress who took forever to divert more money to the border to add staffing for the asylum process or am i misremembering?
like why is a lot of this even in the trump thread lol
The asylum process is a court controlled system independent from border security which is the only thing Trump and the GOP is funding when it comes to immigration.

Trump has named Tomas Philipson as the acting chair of the Council of Economic Advisers.
A University of Chicago professor who specializes in the economics of health care.
He previously served as a top economist at the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
"Tom is a very fresh thinker," said Mark McClellan, a veteran of the George W. Bush administration who recruited Philipson to work for him, first at the FDA and later at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. "Tom had a great background in health economics and wanted to do work that was very policy relevant. So it was a win-win."
Although Philipson grew up in Sweden, where the vast majority of health care costs are covered by the government, he stresses market-oriented reforms and consumer choice.
At the FDA, McClellan said, Philipson helped institute a system in which drugmakers and medical device manufacturers paid higher fees to facilitate faster approvals. At CMS, he worked on Medicare Advantage — a program that allows about a third of Medicare recipients to get their benefits through private insurers.
iirc, the budget this year cut DOJ funding resulting in slower lines to process asylum requests and other immigration court related proceedings. The shutdown made things worse as those who had court dates during that period were bumped to the back of the line because the court calendars were already filled when the shutdown ended and no convenient way to reschedule.
