That's fair, I wasn't thinking of it in those terms. The best I can find is a Quinnipiac poll from March that has her approval at -13, with 38% of people saying they don't know enough about her to form an opinion. If I'm going based on that she's not recognizable enough to be the face of the party. Is that 80% approval you're referencing more recent? Can you link it?

I'm not someone that will fight to death over something I'm wrong about. I admitted I was wrong yesterday in this same thread. Based on what I've seen, the opinions I get from friends and people around me, and my view on what "a face" of a political party should be, I don't believe she qualifies.

We all know that Trump is trying to paint a picture of the Democrat party as socialist, antisemitic and anti American. He is trying to go up against this painting because he knows he can't beat any of the Democrat front runners. It's not going to work. Hillary Clinton isn't there to demonize.

Trump is creating his own Clinton though by throwing everything into discord, and that is how he has a real shot at winning again. His base and party supported or wrote off the racist tweets, and is happy to chant "send them back" instead of "lock her up" this election cycle. He is already so deep in the mud that he can't bring himself down any further and his approval with Republicans only (literally) went up after all of this. Instead he is going to drag everyone down to his home turf to increase his odds.

Trump always controls the narrative, and the media will once again do his work for him. They long ago abandoned their jobs in favor of driving ratings for their bottom line.
Democrats and Independents also have less of a stomach for participating in another shitfest where the issue becomes more about voting because 'that person isnt the other person'. Facts aren't going to matter again in this election.

So Trump has a dedicated base for when he drags the election into a mire of shit with these tweets, rallies, and policies. Meanwhile the progressive wing of the Democratic party and those who wish to see real change are going to cause rifts within the only party that can oppose Trump. Voters will throw their hands up, and give up. Most are already tired of the crap, and don't agree with it, but this is obviously the reelection strategy; divide the democrats, scare away the moderates from voting, and sweet talk the once Republican right with those sweet-sweet authoritarian phrases.

So Trump absolutely can beat any of these Democratic front runners. Just watch, this is the moment we are going to mark as the start of every intentionally batshit thing that drives this election more into his favor. Clinton isn't needed anymore because this thing has a life of its own, and is going to outlive Trump when he is done stoking this social instability for his own gains.
