I'd have 0 problem with any of it if it always worked that way. I'm a patient person so I can always wait, and companies are free to do whatever kind of partnership deal will make them profit. Keeping it exclusive forever, however, is annoying and extremely anti-consumer, but we've walked that road to death.

That's my guess. Only the most diehard Final Fantasy nerds such as us will be bothered to play 1 episode every 3 years. This is even during a very favorable time for games in general since more people are cooped up at home.

After the developmental cost double dip, I would be interested in seeing the profit vs cost for FF7R at 5 mil sold.

Well either way. As of Dec 2019, FF15 has sold 8.9 mil on all platforms.

FF7 Part 1 being "only" 5 mil on one console before the inevitable Xbox and PC release doesn't seem like a big deal to me at all.

Oh nvm LOU2 sold 4M in it's launch weekend, it's surely well past FF7R now.

Annoying there isn't even remotely reliable or competent game-sales tracking. You can see box-office receipts for any movie per day!

What really surprises me about that list is how few/how low the shooters are. Killzone is the listed highest seller for PS4, Call of Duty and Battlefield didn't even crack 2M? I clearly don't pay a ton of attention to vidya anymore but I thought those games did way bigger numbers.

They used to. I think there's been a lot of fatigue with that genre. They probably have higher numbers on Xbox/PC too.
