They will probably just treat it like .hack where you are level capped eventually and carry over brings your level to that point.

I wonder if we're all wrong and the "parts" aspect is just lost in translation. The game we're receiving in March is still just called Final Fantasy VII Remake. Have they specifically said that it won't be full priced expansions that bolt on to the game?
Or they could go nuts and do, say part 1 level capped 99, part 2 level capped 198 if you import a save and so on and so forth for however many parts there may be.
My hope would be only being able to access certain weapons for each part, and materia/weapons/(maybe these skills?) can carryover, but level gets reset to a lower point, and you'll get to unlock mid-tier weapons/materia/skills in part 2, high tier in part 3, and everything if there's a part 4. I don't want to be OP, but they also probably won't make it so you have to beat part 1 to play part 2. So I hope some grind gets to be carried over, but doesn't negate all difficulty if you grind "too much" in part 1.
Are there even levels in the game? They could do something like FFX system where you level up individual stats and then just unlock more of the grid in later games. Or do it using gear where you get stronger by leveling up your gear.
That's based entirely on what's been displayed already:
My guess is that there're different types of materia (duh) and growth materia is what add stats, and different weapons have different level caps for the individual materias (similar to FFXIII). You use skill points to unlock new skills in the growth materia, which can be transferred over to new weapons. That way you could do a "naked" run and go through the game without any growth materia to challenge yourself, or you could use several growth materias in the same weapon to become even stronger (maybe?) at the cost of using fewer other materias such as Cure or Fire.
Other materias probably have stats as well beyond just the magic though, such as MP and magic for Fire, and there will probably be other types of Growth materia with a larger weight towards specific stats such as a more magic-oriented one and one attack-oriented one.
Like I said, purely speculation based on what's been displayed. But I can't remember there being any screenshots that suggests levels are used, which would certainly make sense for continuing the games beyond the first one.
Yes, there are:

An hour in, level 7 and only 113gil? What a bunch of scrubs
There are articles popping out about them working on part 2 already, so funny reading all the people freaking out on social media because they've just learned this will be in parts lol
Even More Caps
Spoiler: show
Just use the absurd exponential EXP chart from FFXV.

That only goes to 99 and doesn't include the 100-120 exp amounts which were waaaaaaaaaaaaaay higher per level
Holy shit, that probably means Jesse WAS t-pose on the parachute in the trailer lol

Back in May, SE revealed to Game Informer that the Remake is a trilogy.
Imo, the logical pacing would be ending game one at the exit of Midgard, game two the "ending of the original cd 1", and game 3 is everything after that. It might seem like a lot for game 3, but a lot of that side shit post ancients city can be shuffled around and done earlier with no real impact in the story imo.

I would hope that in 2019 with a game with this much hype we can get a new post-game dungeon or some other grindy shit like Tales / Star Ocean do
