87 average at Meta. only common complaint is the added sidequests are boring filler that require a lot of backtracking, else-wise they're all raving about the new systems / graphics / added depth to the narrative.

I mean, it's a pretty petty complaint. Side quests in almost all games are usually filler with a lot of backtracking.
With that said, they're not optional if you want bonus dialogue and events. Doing all the side quests in an area unlocks "Discovery" events that has extra dialogue with characters, so if you want the full story you have to do them.
I'm not sure if they are missable — I suspect they are based on what happen around them and what the characters talk about. You also have to do some of them to unlock certain things in the game.

I have a feeling that it's going to sting so much harder this time when Jessie exits![]()
Took him about 35 hours to finish the game on normal + 99% of the sidequests. After you finish, you can go back and replay chapters at various difficulties.
But they all die lol

88 on Open.
I'm looking forward to seeing what this looks like on the eventual PC release. Some of the graphics pop-ins are vicious.
Yo man all games are main plot padded with sidequests. So what if it is a remake. If they give me extra content to play, that just makes it a regular game.
The bigger question is the quality of the content and aside from a few reviews, most of them are saying the quality is good.
it's all in the execution, there are garbo AC/Far Cry sidequests that feel like chores then there are baller Witcher/Baldur’s Gate sidequests that are more interesting than some games' main narratives. even most reviewers that love the game are saying FF's just ain't no good. but they're all optional so eh. then again as Uzor points out you kinda have to do them to get some sweet additional content so reverse ehh. guess we'll all find out on Friday ain't nobody skipping a 9/10 game just because the optional content (potentially) sucks.
Amazon delivery date 14th. But preordered release day curbside pickup at Best Buy which supposedly will work. Fingers crossed.
I'm really hoping the walmart near me puts them out early, or I can finagle an employee going in the back and grabbing me a copy before its put on the shelf

Mine is still good to go to, they have a line outside and a max occupancy for the store. When one person leaves another can enter, if one leaves and a family is waiting, they gotta wait until enough people leave to total up to enough for then to enter.
The store is pretty sparsely populated cause of it, but it's still a gamble to venture out there. That said, it's a gamble I'd take any day of the week if it meant picking this game up early.
