Bad News coming out of Japan.

Blue Protocol is having major problems, with a critical bug. So the devs said it will take some time to fix. They hope it will be fixed by mid March, with a CBT soon after.

The devs had a special steam, to apologize for everything. This will probably delay everything going forward.

But there was some positive, a new Benchmark software will come in Feb. and a new stream.

Yoshi-P had a recent interview with Nico Nico Livestream. He talks about Blue Protocol, saying that several former SE devs, who worked on FFXIV, are now working on BP. Says he is looking forward to the game.

Bandai had a stream today, and it was really good news.

The critical bugs have been fixed, and they are ready to resume testing. The next test should be around the end of March. It will be a be a network test and will invite over 50,000 people to test the server. But the test is for Jp-only.

Bandai also announced that there will be a Benchmark, to be released later on today. The benchmark will come with a Character creator. It will be 3.5 gigs. You will be able to export the characters to the main game when it come out.

The benchmark has been released and can be downloaded on the official site. This is the Japanese version, so everything will be in Japanese. But anyone can download.

    https://blue-protocol.com/download/benchmark

    It's a 5.3 GB download.

If you're familiar with the usual Final Fantasy XIV benchmark released with every expansion, you know what to expect, including a cutscene that will provide a good look at the game's visuals and will provide you with an estimated score. You will also be able to post it on social media.

Perhaps the most interesting included feature is the character creator, which will allow you to enjoy the impressive anime-style character customization of the game and save up to 24 characters. It's likely that those will be compatible only with the Japanese version of the game, mind you, but there's no specific info on this.

The characters you create will appear in the benchmark's cutscenes and there will also be a character and party viewer feature. It's worth mentioning that the software is only for PC.

I tried messing with the character creator it's nice but my first thought was that there's no way they won't hide more customization options behind a shop or something.

BP will have a mega server with channels.

Each field zone can hold 30 players per channel.

Dungeons, arenas, and towers are 6 players.

    Raids are 30 players.

Time Attack runs can only hold one person.

** If you are in a party or a raid you will all be placed in the same channel.

Just new features being added to the game.

Swimming. You will now be able to swim to places. Maybe find a secret place.

Campfires. These will be placed all over the world. You will be able to rest up your HP/MP here, and avoid mobs.

He has some good points, and some bad takes.

    - I want to point out that last weekends test was a Network/Stress Test. There was over 50k+ on the server, because of this it, was laggy at some points.

    - The Network Test had a lvl 20, rank 4 cap. Also you could only do the first part of the MSQ. So there was no endgame shown.

    - Also he had auto lock on the whole time. Auto lock, you will hit your target, but you do way less dmg. Mobs have weak points, and if you hit there you will do lots of dmg.

    - He didn't use any combo's, elemental system, and elemental bursts.

But I do agree with the grind. Mostly because there is no player to player trade. Also there is no Market board, or AH. Stuff does drop from dungeons and stuff, but the best weapons/runes/pets are crafted. So your going to have to lvl up gathering/crafting. Which is annoying.

Because the cap was lvl 20, they reduced the boss raid to lvl 20. But here is a better look at it.

Thanks for the points about combat. Most people said combat was really good. Not sure how valid the weapon stuff is vs what he said.

It's pretty easy to adjust materials and drop rates. I'd have no problems grinding at certain points to advance, but not every single upgrade. What he described should be the end game gear and upgrade process, not the leveling process.
