Just finished Episode 6, and they nailed that adaptation based on my memory. As soon as I saw the title "The Sound of Her Wings", I was excited and not disappointed. Big bonus for including the Hob Gadling story, one of my personal favorite side stories from the comic.

Never read the comics but I thought this was pretty good. Would be interested in seeing more of it.

Never read the comics but this show made me see why it won so many awards. Amazing show all around IMO. Def on the must watch list on Netflix

Neil Gaiman involved himself in every creative process so it wouldn't get fucked up and it shows.

tangent but that's why I'm excited with how involved Brandon Sanderson is planning to be with his adaptations

I loved the Hob episode, me and a friend joke all the time how annoying it is when immortal characters want to die. There’s always something new being devolved and new people to meet regardless of the loss.

I am adoring this show. It does move very slowly, but so did the comic. The casting is perfection, especially for the Endless and Jenna Coleman as Constantine

It is dreadfully slow paced. I'm only four episodes in, and I'm liking the overall plot thus far, but not having any experience with the original material, I can't tell (and this'll be offensive to some)
    Spoiler: show
If the comics were extremely progressive for its time, or Netflix is trying to squeeze in as many minorities and gay couples as possible to the point that they're the majority represented here.

I also keep getting distracted by Patton Oswalt's voice (Matthew). It doesn't really fit the character to me or the general tone of the series thus far.

Sandman was quite progressive for its time with gay, transgender, and non-binary characters littering its pages, but Netflix has really ramped it up. there has been a large amount of race and gender swapping. mostly it doesn't matter, Dream and his siblings float between ethnicities freely depending on the observer that is viewing them (therefore Dream appearing as an African prince to the African princess imprisoned in hell), so a black Death makes as much sense as a white one, but some of the swaps have resulted in p different characterizations. then again they kept John Dee a white man and he's pretty damn different than his comic version. lot of adaptation license all around.

also yes i hate Oswalt's casting and that they've expanded Matthew's role likely as a result of his dubious star power.
alsoalso i know they cut Sandman out of DC for this but a small frowny face they don't nodwink tie Matthew to his Swamp Thing origins at all, he was a p important character for Alan Moore there. the connection between the two series was quite neat given they reshaped the genre together.

but anyways halfway through the series and it's coming in at only decent for me. will wait to finish for final judgement.

The Endless seem pretty meh after finishing the series. I ordered the comics off Amazon to see what it's like.

I truly loved the show, but yeah I felt this for sure. The episode in the diner really felt like they were going down a checklist to just be inclusive as possible just for the sake of saying "okay, next". It felt very flagrant. I read the original like 20 years back and while parts stick out, I don't remember a whole lot. I'm going to have to go back and re-read it.

I didnt have any issues with pacing at all. Binged the entire thing over the weekend, but again I did not read the comics at all and knew nothing of the story before hand. So it could be I found it refreshingly different. I didnt have an issue with Patton Oswald, he sounds like a crow, loud and annoying.
