Men were too busy bitching their women wanted them to dress up as Jason Momoa to complain about his skin color.

I know, don't gotta tell me twice.
Reverse racism, I guess thats cool tho right?
I'm not upset, I just find it a little hypocritical. You know for damn sure if this was done for anything of any other race that was established, people would be in an uproar. Because its a white person, its okay.Smdh Brandy played Cinderella and everyone was fine with that but Draylo is upset about a fucking fish.
My PERSONAL OPINION, they should not change established characters for a controversy to help sales tickets. Create new characters and new movies, the live action remakes have been mostly terrible. They need to stop touching the classics.
Can we talk about the real issue here which is the oppression of Gingers? Traditional red-head ginger roles being taken by Black People is a growing problem in Hollywood.
Spoiler: show
End the oppression #JusticeForGingers
the idea is white men are overrepresented in media and every other minority and women are underrepresented ergo the why aren't white people treated the same!!! doesn't hold much water as white people aren't presently being treated the same but in a preferential manner.
i actually agree we shouldn't gender and race switch already done stories but one has to be able to see the rationale behind it and not just bemoan how unfairly treated the great white race is.
that said Ariel is a fuckin mermaid and the Danish writer who made her made her green so whatever the fuck ever make that bitch purple yolo
I do get it, but I think , like I keep saying, they should create new characters that are of a minority race or new stories. What is the harm in doing that? I mean, would people care if they randomly changed the race or gender of some of your favorite characters? What if they remade FF7 and cloud was a Indian woman? I mean, theres just some things better left as they originally were. I had even thought most hated the new Ghostbusters for doing that (fwiw I liked it.)
There's no harm in creating new characters.
There's also no harm in changing up the current ones.
I mean, WHAT IS THE POINT in remaking something if it's going to be the exact same fucking thing as the first one? That's what they did with Vince Vaughn's Psycho and it was boring as shit. Why the hell would I watch that if I can watch the original?
The point of remakes is to take a fresh new take on something old. Why is that a problem?
I could maybe MAYBE see your argument if this was a direct sequel to the original film, but it's a REMAKE.
Actually if Cloud was an Indian woman it would be a weird choice but besides now having to presumably either change the love interests to Barrett and Cid or change Tifa and Aerith's sexuality, nothing about the story of FFVII would be altered in any way.
That's my big issue with the bullshit you're spewing - WHAT. DIFFERENCE. DOES. IT. MAKE. TO. THE. STORY.

And if your whole issue is the absolutely moronic point of view that Ariel is somehow "established" as white, good news! This movie doesn't retroactively erase the previous movies or cartoon. You can enjoy white Ariel for all time to your heart's content.

They cast a white woman to play Ursula instead of a purple woman, have they no shame!
Poseidon made a woman fuck a bull and she conceived the child. Greek mythology is full of people getting their freak on in different ways. White Triton and black Ariel? I'd believe it, especially with a Jamaican crab hanging around. The King had a fling with an island woman.
It's not bullshit, its called an opinion and everyone has one. Someone brought up the fact that people were complaining and I gave my opinion, simple as that. But when people were bitching about a white woman playing the ancient one, I'm sure you were right there telling them they were stupid because what difference does it make to the story.
To be fair if you care about the source material so much as you have stated in prior posts. The character was originally green. So all of this is moot.

Was just looking at a list of all the animated Disney movies and the Little Mermaid is one of the ones on the list where you absolutely have to respect the race of the character.
Ariel has GOT to be a mermaid. You wouldn't do 101 Dalamatians with pomeranians, you wouldn't do The Great Mouse Detective with a vole. It's a mermaid or nothing.
