I’m of the opinion the GOP wouldn’t be scrambling to redistrict certain states and trying to pass all kinds of voter suppression laws if there wasn’t a genuine fear of elections.

I have never seen anyone show any actual proof that he could cancel either the midterms or the next presidential election. It's all just fearmongering

If I was engaging in undemocratic behavior I wouldn't put my eggs in one basket and hope for the best. I'd do all the things, anything and everything, because it is zero sum and if you're in for a penny you're in for a pound.

There are many avenues to cheat or otherwise be dishonest in this endeavor. Also, pay attention to how half the time people respond to this possibility with, specifically, "cancelling" the election (and his apparent inability to) as if that's the only way they can engage in undemocratic, or even illegal, behavior.

I wonder how many times he needs to telegraph something before people start believing that he's telegraphing something. Surely this is the one time he's just kidding.

It's like no one learns their lesson. The literal meme is "let's see how he wiggles out of this one" as if the meme itself isn't an admission that priors do NOT matter and at any time, any freaking time, norms will be broken regardless of what anyone says, including a court. As if he isn't a literal criminal who evaded sentencing because he won an election. The rules literally don't apply as intended to him; we see evidence of this all the damn time and even now people deny that it is entirely possible he continues to do illegal things and fucks with the next election.

Those ramifications are all irrelevant to the people who actually want either to happen. That being Miller, Bannon, Trump, etc. Society being completely destroyed would be ideal for them because their stated goal is building it back up from the ashes as a white nationalist christofascist state. You literally just keep doing what you're already doing until they figure it out all. We had a government shutdown where we made many essential people keep doing what we they were already doing, many of them without pay. But I bet they'd still get paid anyways cause that's how fascist governments work; as long as the cheddar is being spread to the right people, everything is honky dory.

I can already tell a lot of y'all are gonna be doing the whole cheating/cancelling/what even really is cheating arc all election season. I'm drawing the line in the sand now, if ICE or any of his fascist goons show up to any place of election to intimidate or discourage voters from voting, that is literally republicans cheating and it needs to be called what it is and dealt with.
