Frankly, it's exactly the same problem with police forces. It's just ICE's bar is lower and people are less inclined to care about black people getting murdered when cops are involved.
I pretty much err toward empathy on immigration, legal or otherwise, because people inevitably need a place to live regardless of whether or not a fraction of a percent are bad people. Conservative fearmongering on the strain in social services they actively try to sabotage at every corner or things like voting is minimal to non-existent. Yeah, I may get a salty if they don't and won't bother to learn English, but that in itself isn't a law nor should it be. It's just communication inconvenience.
And yeah, costs of everything have gone up despite MW being kept down, wal-mart employees still needing welfare, and other wealth suppression BS despite the whole "essential worker" buzz of covid. And sure, prices may go up a little, but never to the degree of the old $8 gallon of milk meme. We also have to come to terms with the fact buildings don't just magically demand more money relative to raising rent, but we don't exactly need to have the conversation about most landlords being a blight upon society. Corporations munching up private housing is also an issue. Flippers can go either way depending on if the property they scarfed up truly needed repairs and wasn't just renovated solely to demand higher prices on resale.
All of this is also why it's important to be keeping an eye on Mamdani and NYC because it's no secret the establishment was afraid of him as much as the GOP tried their red scare tactics. If it turns out he clowns what modern politics has become by actually helping people, that's gonna ripple. It's just a shame people stuck in red regions will be affected more slowly.
Jeffries and Schumer still largely ignore Mamdani and it will be a welcome reckoning to the democratic party. MN congress members are under fire for their lack of response to the ICE threat. Some are just using their platform to repeat the news of what we see every day. Klob had a photo op at a hockey event this week which any other time would be business as usual, but is terrible optics for the current climate. Everyone is pissed
Schumer's #1 through #99 priority is ensuring funds continue to be delivered to Israel, and he'll be dead before anyone of his wealth level ever sees consequences from their inaction.
Jeffries blows my mind. Ideologically he is perhaps even more fanatically Zionist than Schumer is, but for zero discernable reason. Money I guess. History will not be kind to either.
No one wants to be the first state to test martial law. No one wants to be the one who has to act like a commander that is possibly fighting the federal government. IF THEY CAN EVEN DO THAT.
We fully DO NOT KNOW if the national guard would follow orders from the Gov if they were against the federal government. We literally do not know if MN national guard members would die for commander-in-chief Tim Walz. Would you?

I can't blame any governor for not escalating. They win no awards for turning their state into a warzone. They look way better being sympathetic victims under attack. This won't end unless the supreme Court intervenes which they wont

No one wants to do anything period, everyone who has been truly threatened directly and specifically by this administration from the highest levels to the lowest levels have all immediately surrendered.
There needs to be a concerted national effort to keep a record of the collaborator votes, and primary the fuckers in the next few months.
I mean, that is being done, but it just never hits the mainstream news where it needs to be seen. We've basically gotta remember that our media is republican-owned at this point, too. Anything that could help galvanize and invigorate opposition will be quashed. Wither the dems are actually being limp-dicked or just spun to look that way is by design.
That's the biggest thing people that mostly get their news from independent media or socials like Reddit or X/bluesky/etc ALWAYS miss.
Most people are not plugged in like that. They either straight up don't care at all or just watch TV news and don't believe anything else.
I still don't buy that Dems suck at messaging rather the rights cruelty and fear mongering makes for quick and easy sound bites. It's a lot easier to say you want voter id laws to protect election integrity than to explain how said laws make obtaining said id incredibly difficult in minority areas. That Family guy episode where Lois runs for mayor and wins over the debate crowd by repeatedly just saying 9/11 has aged like fine wine.

I mean, several Dems just voted in favour of ICE funding. That's pretty bad messaging.
the Democratic's ICE message: hey please try not to be so mean about it
wrt playing their role as the inept center-right party, they're pretty spot on here
kinda wrong thread, kinda not
eh, it's staying here
I wonder how often a Dems votes with Repubs to try and save their seat in a "purple" district only to lose their seat for an actual Repub later on.
Yup, it's always them doing some sort of pandering attempt to the right to try to get right votes or be centrist or some other shit and it never works for them because they aren't a straight up Nazi so often they get knocked out after an election cycle. MAGA doesn't give a shit if you support ICE. If your name is blue you get to go to the gas chamber
How many times we have said this.
The Dem tent is a wide coalition that sheds votes on both ends based on how far left or center a candidate is.
The GOP tent is a massive hivemind of a bloc that rarely breaks until a leopard eats an individual/small community's face and they finally get angry enough to vote for an even more insane candidate or the "centrist" not Dem candidate

The FBI agent who was investigating the ICE agent who killed Renee Good has resigned after being forced to drop their investigation.
