i mean, he's 29 years old and was graded by pff as having the 3rd best quarterback season in 2018 and he's retiring with 31 million dollars worth of dead cap money from a relatively minor injury. meanwhile alex smith had a literal life threatening injury and he's still on the skins roster helping haskins development on the sidelines
luck has legitimately chosen the most selfish path here
Couldn't believe when I heard it. He better get outta Dodge asap!
did luck have an alex smith injury that i didn't hear about in the off-season? of the 3 diagnosis i heard about the absolute worst case scenario was a small bone behind his achilles tendon would need to be removed with 4-6 weeks of recovery. why would you leave your teammates high and dry when you can sit on the sideline, making the millions of dollars that you are guaranteed to receive, and help the team out even if you won't hit the field. fucking ryan shazier half paralyzed made his way to the sideline to coach up his dudes
if luck flat out retires this shits pretty diva
Some bootlickin' ass "the worker should do what's best for the company" shit going on in here

Grigson was obviously the biggest fuck-up in the entire NFL for his tenure in Indy. Their owner is a drug addict / alcoholic who literally told the press. "Andrew's injuries are mental, its just in his head". One of his only statements so far tonight was "I have been in pain for the last 4 years".
Rapsheet reported that he told the Colts FO, 2 weeks ago, that he just wanted to retire and travel with his wife lol. The timing is also about as piss poor as he could have made it. He isn't going to be welcomed in that state for a very long time, if ever.
Seriously what the fuck is this
So when you hear that a guy is retiring, why do you immediately assume the most insignificant possible injury report?
Is it that hard to understand that the guy is sick of dealing with the constant injury-rehab-injury cycle? He got beat the fuck up his first few years
If he doesn't want to do it anymore he should retire, fuck the dead cap money, he doesn't owe anyone shit
If you were miserable at work, would you hang around a year or two to train the new guy? Hell no
I can't believe you're advocating he not retire, but instead sit on the sideline and "help." You really don't see any issues with this plan? The fans would be going berserk
What Shazier and Alex Smith want to do is their business. Most guys would die on the field which makes them fucking crazy. It's ok to be one of the smart guys that retires early even if that isn't the macho thing to do

Yeah... the timing is bad obviously but I bet you if Luck told them in the off-season he was thinking about retiring, they would've wanted him to come to camp and give it another shot even knowing it could end like this. That could've even been what happened and the additional injuries were enough for him to say fuck it
They were going to be fucked this year regardless without him

Welt beat me to it, but this was the same FO that said his injuries were all in his head lol.
my teams starting centre has a medical condition where for the rest of his life his body's immune system can randomly attack his nervous system causing his extremities to freeze up and paralyze his entire body, and he's out there playing, while luck is retiring from a bone bruise. luck is supposed to be a fucking football player. please stop lol
the last time i remember a young elite caliber player randomly retiring out of nowhere was megatron and people still to this day give him shit so this take is hardly hot. i just don't see how yall don't see this as a diva move. if obj retired from whatever injury luck has tomorrow you'd call him a diva, and obj has missed more games due to injury than luck lol
Not sure how hot of a take I think it is. That FO/Luck owe the fans better since they are paying a good % of their income for season tickets. He should have retired earlier if he felt that strongly about it or he should have tried to gut it out. You got people making $35k a year spending $2-3k of that a year to go watch a guy their FO has spent $100 mil on to play. Boos are going to be expected, esp. when the news drops MID GAME LOL.
This shit is wild af. The NFL is king.
Whoever leaked that kid game is so fired. Supposedly the players and ownership knew, had a press conference scheduled for Sunday. Irsay is still hoping if he takes time to just rest he will come back.

What report stated the players knew? Everything I’ve read suggested the players had no idea until after the game. That’s also how his presser made it sound, but maybe I missed part of it.
There is also a shot where he is most likely telling Jacoby in the 4th quarter and you can tell by the shock on his face that’s it’s the first he’s hearing of it.
Per Schefter just this morning, only a select few knew before the game, with Brissett being one of them. They almost told the team and scheduled the press conference for Friday, but opted for Sunday at 3pm instead.
So either one of the select high-up members of their FO leaked it or Brissett did (highly doubtful). Irsay strategically got this out there through someone mid-game knowing how it would go, likely hoping the reaction would change his mind. Hell, just this morning Irsay stated that Luck walked away from half a billion dollars in contracts. Dude is salty af!
Anyone spending 2-3k of their 35k income to go to football games has a lot more problems than whether Andrew Luck is playing.
And he shouldn’t spend one iota of his time worrying about them
