I'm Ashkenazi, it mostly describes white/Slavic/Eastern European Jews. Sephardic means those with their roots in Spain/Iberia, Mizrahl are Middle Eastern/North African Jews. I think there's another but I'd have to look it up.

The main differences are more linguistic than cultural, though I'm pretty sure linguistic differences led to translation differences led to practice differences but I've never been to a Sephardic or Mizrahl service.

I thought vampires came about because people didn't understand how bodies decomposed, so when they exhumed bodies back in the 1700s after some kind of accusation, and saw that the bodies were bloating and the skin was darkening, they assumed they they were coming to life and consuming blood from victims.
