I still remember some of the people I hated because they had a different color pearl from me.
Now granted my LS was the best on the server and everyone else was inferior garbage but there was no reason to treat them all like such besides that one might get imaginary boots before someone on my team did.

Personally I don't get any enjoyment over button spamming a raid after waiting in queue for dungeon finder, avoiding floor candy and doing a cookie cutter fight for a chance at a slight upgrade. Just doesn't ever feel very immersive

TBF my enjoyment from raiding is like 10% prog and 90% the people I hang out with anymore. Gear doesn't matter in XIV now that you can just beat the raid with the crafter gear they launch with the patch.

I liked progression in wotlk and TBC. I never really did it in 14 ngl.. but I was super bored of it after just 3 or so years of doing so

FFXI now is better than it ever was. Yes we all have amazing memories of the 75 era but take the nostalgia goggles off and the game was an unapologetic waste of time.
Even today there’s certain things that I’m fucking baffled some dev thought it was cool to implement during the 75 era like abyssea nm trophies. Shit is still a fucking pain in the ass. I can’t imagine it 10 years ago without all the QoL changes and ilvl gear.

We once stole a Fafnir claim and killed it right as the server was going down for maintenance, logged back in when they were up and immediately got another Fafnir.
