My dad dug out a pond on his property which attracted geese, frogs, turtles, ducks, and everything else but it also attracted muskrats that chewed through the bridge supports to the little island in the pond. He loved watching them but they kept destroying more stuff so he had to shoot them.

I've got like 3 different kinds of ducks, a pair of herons, multitude of deer, maybe a bear, 18,000 woodchucks, a few fox, some coyote, one muskrat, tons of toads/frogs/peepers, formerly a gaggle of geese (until our smaller dog chased them around the yard and through the creek), at least one Great Owl, a few hawks, and maybe a few other things I'm forgetting that come through or are in the immediate vicinity of my property.
Not counting the chipmunks, squirrels, field mice, etc that are common in the area.
Oh, at least one gigantic fucking snapping turtle. Monster thing was like a dinosaur. Saw sunning itself and then dive into the creek while I was mowing. Shell alone had to be like 2 feet long.
Decided I'm not swimming in the creek unless I can see whats at the bottom.
My dad has a one pump, one shot .177 pellet gun with a scope that is incredibly accurate, can put pellets through the same hole in a paper target from 60'. He used to open the doors in the basement and shoot through the length of the house for target practice lol.

Not sure what you're all gonna do once beto takes your guns
His has like a long pump arm that runs the length of the rifle and you pull it away from the body to the side, and then lever it back into place to pump it. Kind of annoying to have to load each tiny pellet individually before each shot but yeah.

I almost pulled the trigger a few years ago when I moved to VA with some XN0 GR5 plates lol
I want don't tread on me tags and a tulsi sticker
Actually never see them in NC I wonder if that's a VA tag only
It was like a weekly thing in my family to go get drunk and reach under the creek banks for these monsters, we would make turtle gravy or just fried turtle from them.
I mostly pulled the boat and beer but I got brave enough to pull a couple out, got a scar from getting bit also. They are generally asleep under there and you find the spikes on the shell, that's where the tail is then you grab that and begin the fight of your life bc those mf are not trying to get pulled out. Some of them were massive like you say, wouldn't fit in a 50 gallon barrel opening, would take 2-3 strong ass rednecks to get some out, esp if they got a grip on a root under there. Shit was epic fun though can't even lie.
Shits wild thinking back on it and how normal that seemed at the time. Some good ol boys fr.
you wild Day i used to go noodling with my cousins but miss me with pulling out snapping turtles man hell to the nah
Yall talking about snapping turtles and I just chuckle everytime I see a floridian soft shelled turtle scurry off the grass into the nearest lake lol
