When you say support, and this is my bias, I think you're saying youd support their defense, rhetorically and literally. Youd support them saying they didnt do the crime, support their defense monetarily to that end, and by necessity deny the truth of what the victim claims.

Your definition of "support" is different than mine it seems. To me, you're just saying you'll show up to court for your family, even if you dont support them. That's how I'd phrase it. The way you phrase it now does not come off as that.
