I used to be a red wine drinker, now I do a lot of pink/rosé wines. (White Zinfandel, pink moscato, etc.)

Which is nicer on my wallet, since those are usually cheaper.

Super Tuscans are my favorite red atm, but I can dont some cabs with my steaks. Other then that I just try different blends til I find a bottle I like. Right now I love this bottle called Clio, but it's like $50 a bottle and hard to find near me.

Seconding Total Wine. They blow Bevmo out of the water on the west coast as well. Though nothing will beat going to actual wineries and do some tastings.

Myself, my wife, my friend, and his wife went out for a nice dinner one night on the LES. We did a tasting menu and let my friend decide the wines (same friend that gets the boxes for Xmas). With our entree he picked out a Barolo that the restaurant kept very lightly chilled and it went so perfectly with our entree that I've been chasing that high with a wine ever since.

Well, not really, but I just haven't had anything compare to that situation. Even trying other Barolos.

also, buy cheap wine like 2 buck chuck (it’s probably 3 now), as there is no real discernible difference between those and more expensive wines

they did blind tastes tests with those mixed in with expensive wines years ago and some wine snobs got bamboozled

it’s a good way to at least figure out what types you like
