Spoken like someone who doesn't understand that there are things Discord is good for, and things that could be massively improved if written in a different way from the ground up with a different framework. Especially 10+ years after the backbone of Discord was written.

Then again, I'm sure we all still use AIM, which is basically the original Discord.

Which are two separate statements. The first is incorrect. You can have a good idea and employ help to make it happen. The second may or may not be true, but I certainly agree that you need to be able to market the idea to find success.

I was implying if it's a good idea you'll find people to code it for you because they also think it's a good idea. Most people, like Stan and discord for example, relied on others to code 99% of it for them. Stan hit up everyone in the ffxi world he knew that could code about discord and guildwork

I should have been more clear but I thought that was obvious.

If you have a good idea and can't make it because of your ability to code and can't get anyone to code it, it's probably a bad idea.

What?! As much as I'd like the idea of being anywhere remotely as successful as Discord is now I'm thinking more a customized bot that can work to our advantage rather than using Ser Aymeric as the entire backbone of it.

Also my supervisor leaving and landing a job where he works from home 4 days a week and making more money than he was makes things extremely enticing.

I have an idea I need coders for. I have 2 but they've proven unreliable, which I can't necessarily blame them for since they both have jobs they get paid to do and my thing would be working for free on the hopes we're a hit.
