we like to exaggerate on this forum but i'm pretty sure that was literally word for word what she said in that god awful movie.
yeh they changed it after tens of thousands of incels bombarded Captain Marvel before it released because Brie Larsen oppressed them, critic reviews go up after they get their media screeners and limited release parties and the like, audience reviews go up after the thing is wide released.
i guess it's extremely on point for Joe Rogan to misrepresent the truth but still disappointing to see he's hopping aboard the 'Dave Chappelle is being oppressed and discriminated against and there's a wide conspiracy to destroy him as he's being paid $55 million dollars and receiving tens of millions of views with 98% approval ratings telling jokes he says no one is allowed to tell'
whether you liked it or not (i liked it) it boggles me how many people are getting played like fuckin fiddles by this ridiculous narrative that maybe the most powerful comedian on earth is being oppressed by and speaking truth to the power of the famed Ian Thomas Malone of ianthomasmalone.com and a handful of Twitterers
haven't seen this many people side with the Empire as underdog since Disney's entertainment monopoly got momentarily derailed
This is exactly as Chappelle foresaw and wanted.
The name of the special was Sticks and Stones, as in, words will never hurt me, every reaction puts more money in my pocket.
part of me feels this but i don't want it to be true, Dave was always one of the most principled comics in the game and once straight walked on $50 million rather than compromise himself. would be a gutcheck to see him pulling a Howard Stern / Ann Coulter / Bill Maher and drumming up cheap controversy to make a dollar.
then again the other option is him honestly believing he's being stunning and brave by making fun of transgender people and saying men shouldn't have to pay child support.
I don't view it as stirring shit for the sake of it, more of his awareness of the backlash he would generate and making a statement right out of the gate that he didn't give a shit.
