Quick Google search says: depends on the state on whether age of the recipient matters and whether it's as serious as child porn. CT has penalties for both sender and recipient even if they are the same age whereas Texas has an exception if both parties are within 2 years of each other and/or in a relationship. Most of those laws though only affect the recipient if they choose to keep the images since you can't really stop someone from sending you a nude.
