Hnms were easy, boring, and stupid. Alliance+ events were a recruiting check. Alliance events were a management check. Lowman events were based on individual "skill," to the extent that such a thing amounted to more than staying awake at your keyboard and not fucking up.

I think the amount of people claiming lots of stuff was always for sale are being a bit disingenuous. I played on many a server and things were not for sale until well into 75 era. I am going to keep repeating this because I feel it's being missed. W3 on the other hand was sold a week after it's inception.

Nothing on ffxi was hard, if you think ffxi is hard you were playing more than 1 character or you haven't played other MMOs. The game simply is too slow to be considered difficult.

Nela sold a lot of the abjurations fairly early, iirc. That's part of why the NA HNMLS hated him, because he was there to make gil, when they wanted to actually earn their stuff. Mercing wasn't broadcast NEARLY as much as it is in today's FFXI, though. The perception difference is monumental.

And you're right, nothing in FFXI was or is hard. The 75 era was stuck on stupid mechanics that kept you from getting to experience things, and Gred repeatedly thinks that's the best shit in the world, but I want to actually experience and play a game. I get to do that in todays FFXI, while still being better than other people. I just don't need to shove that in anyones face, either, and it's not a huge deal one way or the other.

And fuck hecatomb+1. I tried getting that shit crafted and went -3/27 on heca feet, fucking hated it.

I have no idea where you heard that Nela sold things. As I said when you said this before... Nela would not even talk to English players and I have never heard he sold to Japanese. I was in aery, you were not by your own admission...

Black belt items were regularly sold but it was honestly see as doing something nice for mnks. It wasn't looked at like mercing is today. Abjurations were rarely sold anywhere.

Maybe you should have been on better terms with some of the other LS's, then. While I may not have been inside all the big LS's, I frequently spoke to leaders in each, and that's how I know what I know. I often wasn't in an LS because someone on a more important job than THF didn't like me (this was the case for XTREME and CoD) not because the LS as a whole hated me. I got frequent updates on what went down in the Aery, and that's a big part of why I wanted nothing to do with it.

Was trying to see if I could Google-Fu anything that mentioned abjurations being sold, found an old livejournal for Shiva: https://kruemel-shiva.livejournal.com/ He has mention of RMT claiming KB in there, and a whole lot of Zenmetsu wiping to things despite having a bunch of people, lulz.

I think you're missing that you already were in the "very end". My knowledge of HNM's began before I even had a 75. I knew Whisperwind from EXPing, same with some other people from CoD, DL, XTREME, etc. You talk like you were around before Zenmetsu came onto the scene, but I consider the entrance of Zenmetsu to Shiva endgame to be a whole new era and when Shiva started dying off from its own personal politics. Zenmetsu came in right as the big HNMLS were starting to have people get bored, and with the entrance of assholes that didn't care for any sportsmanship, people who didn't want to deal with it all left the HNM scene (and the game) and that's why the old school LS all had dwindling numbers and started to team up for things. And the reason I keep bringing it up, is sort of similar to Gred, but also quite different:

That's now two posts in a row where you show you didn't actually read the livejournal. Cause Nela and HORNET were absolutely mentioned, and the livejournal started from CoD, and the guy then branched off into TSD.

I'm sorry you can't seem to comprehend the big picture of my argument, but that's not really a surprise from someone considering the small picture shenanigans of Zenmetsu that you've always embodied.

Are you aware of any LS's I attempted to get into? I was kicked from XTREME when I wasn't even high enough level for Dynamis. I was kicked from CoD because I made a comment in regards to a CoD leaders girlfriend's picture on the peopleofXI website where people posted their RL pictures, though she already disliked me, and plenty of people /tell'd me they were sad to see me go. I was kicked from YC during a HAKUTAKU run because the leader was a hot headed idiot and I was being my usual annoying self and calling him for being an idiot. I never applied to DL, Nanoface, HoCD, Soulfire, Zenmetsu...or anywhere else. I got into AT, I'm still in the AT FB group, and even got invited to the FableUnity FB group...when I was never even in that LS, lol. You massively overstate how disliked I was. People didn't like my forum persona, but I had friends everywhere, still have multiple FB friends specifically from XI, and my 3rd account I play was a member of DL, that I didn't buy, he just let me have it because we're good friends. I was a self-righteous idealist and purist, I wanted nothing to do with any LS that seemed to claimbot, and frequently insulted the LS that were "confirmed" to use them, so the feelings were VERY mutual at the time.

And I'll just not explain the difference between a claimbot and using say, a healbot in terms of morality in a game, the difference would almost certainly be lost on you. But there is a massive difference.
