Speaking of 75 cap era I was in ex machina on Asura and it was so fun downing Vrtra when I was originally in the adds alliance then got moved to main one cause the other whms kept dying. Then the Wyrms. Anyone know what happened to that LS?

Imagine, in 2020, debating the most stupid shit that happened over 10 years ago... Why does this thread even exist. I would say lock it up but its the only action this section has gotten in years, poor FFXI on BG. D44k you're clearly stuck in the past with Gred, yall got those goggles bolted on tight.
Asura had an RMT D-Ring that got banned in a week. They were unable to sell it after the drop.
RIP Tomhank.
Our RMT also did Tiamat and were the first RMT to monopolize Sky because of D-Block.
Before I left, I can tell you neither of the two NA HNMLS at that time sold King gear -- Remedy or Eminence. Both had too many people wanting even the more common Abjurations. I left when TribeFTW ceased to be one of the big three and KirinTheDestroyers hadn't been camping for a while by this point.
Also, personally, I wouldn't have bought them. That defeats the purpose. Gear is a reward for doing the challenge.
On Sylph I can tell you that iiZerg had a virtual monopoly on NA timezone Kings, but we most commonly sold just Black Belt items. In 2008/2009, we were willing sell a Ridill if there was no WAR on that had the DKP on for it but we never actually did it while I was there. We never sold an Abjuration from a HQ King while I was there.
To prove you wrong.
Nah jobs are way more balanced and "complete" feeling now. At 75 you had jobs that were good and jobs that were straight trash. Now you have jobs that are good and jobs that are just absurd/more effective. At 75 PUP/DRG/SCH/THF/DNC/BST couldn't do shit to HNMs (Spirits Within doesn't count). At 99 all jobs can do something and not be a complete burden or liability to the run. Like I think it can't be understated more how awfully weak pet jobs and hybrid jobs were at 75.
Nah..
Master trials can still only be beat by very specific combinations. You aren't comparing apples to apples. DRG did fine in merit parties or in dynamis at 75, but they weren't optimal. There are still optimal strategies now that everyone uses. If you're playing something that isn't optimal you'll probably be asked to play something else. It's just as cookie cutter as it's always been.
There will always be an optimal strategy in every game always. Maybe it's closer now (a stretch imo) but it's still a long long ways from balanced.
I kind of miss that. Same with Mythics. Like, mythics were released and then nobody saw one for at least a year or two. And back then it was 50,000 alexandrites? Nothing in modern MMOs evokes that same feeling of pure awe at seeing one of those weapons in action (being in a party with a relic/mythic DPS) and seeing those incredibly rare weaponskills and dreaming about using them some day.
One of my happier moments in XI was unlocking Mandalic Stab by like burning 3k+ weaponskill Points into the damned thing when they first released that quest. Back then, it was a useless weaponskill on pretty much all content... but i HAD it. Also it let me self-light with Shark Bite > Mandalic IIRC.
I even remember where I unlocked it... Kuftal tunnel, on the lizards while camping Amemet with my brother and a friend.
It had its downsides, but I admit having a rare weapon or armor felt good, even if that weapon was rare because of how useless it was(like Bano Del Sol, a dagger i still have on my mule lol)
Mandalic Stab on paper was decent because it had a built-in attack bonus (1.75x), and Thief has no Berserk or similar skill to raise attack. Problem was, THF almost never used a raw weaponskill in that era because they had low base damage weapons (seriously, daggers had what like 32-33 base damage?) and I believe Critical Hits have a +1.0 to pDIF. So theoretically, it should have been a good WS to punch through high defense targets. In practice, since THF ws are typically paired with SA/TA, the ws already gets enough of a bonus to punch through defense. Sharkbite was a 3.0 fTP WS while Mandalic was 2.0, and Sharkbite also had better wsc being DEX 50% and Mandalic being Dex 30%. I think they intended Mandalic to be like THF's Wheeling Thrust, a weaker base damage hit that ignored a good chunk of defense and to be the better option when using it raw. Too bad that was obviated by SA/TA's forced crit pDIF bonus and the only concievable time for a THF to use a raw weapon skill was Evisceration on trash mobs when doing quests when you couldn't use SA/TA solo since Bully didn't exist yet.
Mandalic with a mythic when you aren't capping is a winner, especially if it is SCing with all the Savage blades and shit people use.
Who cares about Classic FFXI, Aberk was Purple, fuck the haters
We all know that shit was more closely related to blue
FTFYWho cares about Classic FFXI, Aberk was Ultramarine, fuck the haters.
blue is not a purple but purple is a blue; therefore it's purple
Meh, if you use the dropper tool on any stock pic of Adaberk, it comes up as violet/midnight blue/imperial blue/deep indigo/ultramarine depending on where you draw from. The largest portions of adaberk come up as #554e80:
